As President Barack Obama’s election attorney, Robert Bauer staunchly defended ACORN against political attacks, sought investigations of political opponents and pressed TV and radio stations to stop running ads critical of the Democratic nominee.
Bauer, also former counsel for the Democratic National Committee as well as other liberal interest groups, will become the new White House counsel by the end of the year. And his law firm Perkins Cole represented Osama bin Laden's bodyguard and got him off terrorist accomplice and conspiracy charges, Salim Ahmed Hamdan, aka Saqr al-Jedawi, for the USS Cole bombing. They handled the case pro bono. He was brought up on new charges in 2008, but he had already served the sentenced requirement for the new charges which was 5 years, so he's free and back in Yemen or .. some place.
It's strange a business law firm that has no specialty in criminal law would handle this case pro bono. I wonder why they did?
All of this used to be on wikipedia under Bauer and Perkins Cole, but it's all been deleted now.
