Trump calls for revolution, blasts Electoral College

Donald Trump decried the Electoral College and called for a revolution in the wake of the reelection of President Obama on Tuesday night.

Trump, in one of the most extreme reactions to Mitt Romney’s loss by a high-profile Republican, called for Americans to “march on Washington.”

The real estate mogul and host of reality show “The Apprentice” has been an outspoken supporter of Mitt Romney. He used Twitter to object vehemently to the Electoral College system that he predicted would give the win to Obama and the popular vote to the GOP challenger.

Obama was declared the winner of the election on Tuesday after multiple networks declared he won Ohio, thus weighting the electoral map in his favor. Romney was still leading in the popular vote shortly after midnight.

Trump called the Electoral College “a disaster for a democracy … a total sham and a travesty.”

But either Trump or his team was deleting his tweets as fast as he sent them, including two that called for a “revolution.”

One read: “We should have a revolution in this country!”

Another said: “More votes equals a loss...revolution!”

Unlike Trump, other conservatives on Twitter were less riled by Romney’s loss.

Erick Erickson, founder of the influential conservative Red State blog, was critical of the Romney campaign on Twitter and counseled that Obama’s reelection hardly means the end of the conservative movement.

Erickson actually indicated he was resigned to the outcome before the major networks called the race for Obama, tweeting a “thanks” to Team Obama before following up later with a "congratulations" and a promise.

But longtime Republican campaign strategist Karl Rove disputed the Ohio call in the minutes after most major networks declared it a win for Obama, warning it was too early. Fox News heard him out and even took viewers on a trip backstage to the decision desk to question the math behind the decision. The network ultimately decided to stand behind its decision to call Ohio for Obama.

“I just wanted to raise the question, which I did,” Rove defended himself a few minutes later, accepting the call.

We need changes in election system, popular vote only, standardized paper ballot for presidents only,term limit of 5 years, including congress with a maximum of 10 years for them. Currently we have a few families in total control of government and we're fast moving to a Europe type system or worse. Problem is we have an under educated electorate in terms of politics and a smaller group who would vote for Hitler if he promised food stamps and cell phones.

We need ballots to be printed in ENGLISH ONLY!!!! Ballots in my county are now bilingual(English and spanish). They were a headache to read. We need laws that make it a huge crime for non citizens to vote. If you can't speak and read English and are not a citizen you don't vote. PERIOD!

Sorry I am so annoyed as my DH and I were almost the only English speaking people who were at the polls yesterday when we went to vote and then to have the FRICKIN BILINGUAL ballot to read was a disgrace to America and what it stands for. Remember the phrase "Out of many One". Well that sure isn't happening here!

Sorry as much as I don't like the process, I think the Electoral College is just another check and balance that we need in this corrupt election system we have...I think it is the number of votes that the States get that needs to be changed. I know that it goes by the number of people living in these States that dictate this but there is no reason a State like California should have so many especially since we all know many of the residents are illegal. After all we are finding out that they are voting and why wouldn't they we don't show any real proof of who we are... I am sure this is the same case in each of these large States as well, and also notice just where these Sates are located.... How to make it fair is anyone's guess but it needs to be done right away. We need to be sure that we have voter integrity in each of our elections...or we will never have anything close to fully sanctioned elections with votes by the legal citizens of this Country again...Stupid is as stupid does.....what a Country. These politicians sure have it made don't they....it is win win for them isn't it..

They do the Electoral College off of the Census, which iincludes illegal immigrants. Between the Liberals, Union and Hispanics in California, we don't stand a chance. I watched Moonbeam declare he won on Prop 30 when it was tied and not all the votes were in. I don't think I will even bother to vote again.

Yeah California is a lost cause. Too many latinos now. The Dems have total control including a supermajority now. It's sad and funny that the rest of the country has no idea that they will soon be joining California.

The Electoral College is fine, but like others have said the problem is that it goes off the Census which counts illegal aliens and legal immigrants, both being non Citizens. If the Electoral College and the House seats were proportioned off of US Citizen counts only the story would be far different. Everyone can see looking at the states that Obama won are pretty much all high immigrant / illegal alien states. California's population is likely 30-40% non Citizen while almost every other state Obama won is 10% or more. How many Electoral votes is that alone automatically given to the Dem side, 20-25? Add in with those numbers and many of those states firmly opposing making sure only Citizens register and vote.

The US Political system and voting system is dead. There will be no come back from this in 4 years. The only hope is a revolution and people marching in the streets and it will sadly take also military power to back those people. With Obama's plans and the left's plans right now I foresee the collapse of the US Dollar within 2-3 years and within 3-4 years the collapse of the US as it is with a rise to a new 1 power system. All the said freedoms the Liberal side says they are fighting for will be stripped out completely such as the right to an education, the right to better oneself, the right of freedom of speech, and so forth.

There is 27,958,916 over 18 year olds in California. 5,573,450 voted for Obama. 3,635,571 voted for Romney. Obama won big in LA and along the entire coast of California. Inland Romney won. That leaves 18,749,895 that were either illegal immigrants or adults that didn't vote. I believe a large quantity have given up as I have been told by many Conservatives. Over and over I heard, "why vote they always say we don't count they already know who is the President before they get to California". There are millions of legal immigrants in California that actually aren't liberal. If only California had been targeted by Republicans I think they could have won the 55 Electoral Votes. California non-liberals need to be energized instead of feeling hopeless.

I know that is why the census was taken a while back for that very reason. All the politicians were pleading with everyone to sign it and mail it back they wanted more electoral votes....I trashed mine. But... since half the populace is on the dole it worked in their favor that way too.

In a normal society he would have, but remember this....the Repugnants dissed the Tea Party People,they didn't win over all the independents, they did what they did to Ron Paul at the convention, and half the populace is on the dole in one way or another with all the free free free stuff.....Then you throw in the illegals voting and or added to the populace count (via electoral votes or how ever they do it) and there you have it. We are in for a wonderful time in River City...and half of us have no paddle......

That really depends on who the representatives are that do the voting for the electoral college and what each State's policy is ...they don't always go the way the people want...Aside from that look at the States with the biggest amount of electoral votes they are all big states that are predominately Democ-rat ic..that right there is why many want the Electoral College done away with...I don't so I think it needs to be made a fairer. We need all the checks and balances that we can get. As far as non-liberals feeling hopeless well I guess they need to join the crowd that we all subscribe to.
