Rubio announces he will support Rex Tillerson for secretary of state

Sen. Marco Rubio announced Monday that he will vote to confirm Rex Tillerson as secretary of state, after days of expressing concerns about the former Exxon CEO's business ties to Russia.

"I believe the president is entitled to significant deference when it comes to his choices for the cabinet," Rubio said in a Facebook post unveiling his decision. "Despite my reservations, I will support Mr. Tillerson's nomination in committee and in the full Senate."

Rubio's announcement of support for Tillerson comes after two other Republican Tillerson skeptics in the Senate, Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham, said they would vote for Tillerson as well.

Thank you Marco Rubio. Thank you very very much. It's a shame you couldn't have done this on Friday so we would have had our Secretary of State sworn in on Inauguration Day.

Thanks also to John McCain and Lindsey Graham for also supporting Rex Tillerson for Secretary of State.

Rex is a uniquely qualified individual who will put America First and devote his life during this Administration to protect our jobs, interests, sovereignty and peace. There is no doubt in my mind.

Confirm Tillerson, Pompeo, Price, Carson, Mnuchin, Chao, Ross and Devos today in the US Senate. There is much to do and we need to start it all no later than today.

Do your jobs. Voters gave Republicans a clear majority in both chambers of Congress for a reason, so nothing could get bogged down by partisan politics that requires a Democrat here and there to get important things done. We do not want to see any more "opposition" "concerns" "worries" or "fear" coming from Republicans in the US Congress. This President won 30 plus states. That is an overwhelming MANDATE in our business, so don't try to usurp that any more to appease your donors or personal opines. Do your job for the people of the United States every day of this Administration which means you support this President every which way there is so he can deliver results for our beleaguered country as fast as possible.

Remember, if you knew more than he did, we wouldn't still have the problems he was elected to solve.
