Prosecutor: Trump Foundation Says NY Fundraising Has Stopped

New York's attorney general says Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's charitable foundation has said it has stopped fundraising in the state as it prepares financial reports.
Democrat Eric Schneiderman (SHNEYE'-dur-muhn) told the Donald J.Trump Foundation last month it wasn't properly registered in the state to solicit money. He gave the foundation until Monday to file audited financial statements.
Schneiderman's investigation follows a series of reports by the Washington Post examining whether Trump used his foundation's money for his own benefit.
Schneiderman spokesman Eric Soufer says the Trump Foundation confirmed Monday it had stopped fundraising activities in New York. He says foundation officials have been given more time to file the required forms.
A lawyer for Trump's foundation and a spokeswoman for his campaign haven't returned messages seeking comment.
