Exclusive: Trump plans shutdown compromise

President Trump plans to use remarks from the Diplomatic Reception Room on Saturday afternoon to propose a notable immigration compromise, according to sources familiar with the speech.

The offer is expected to include Trump’s $5.7 billion demand for wall money in exchange for the BRIDGE Act — which would extend protections for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) — and also legislation to extend the legal status of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, according to a source with direct knowledge.


Jared Kushner and Mike Pence have led the crafting of this deal and the negotiations with members, according to White House officials.
Even some top Republicans are skeptical Trump's overture will be enough to break the logjam.

If true, this is a betrayal of promises made by President Trump. He said illegal aliens must go back. This will be a financial nightmare and lead us to the disaster we see in other nations. Crime and lives lost from any amnesty will increase. Supporting millions of illegal aliens robs America and the future of many of our citizens.

Jared Kushner is a globalist and has been pitching amnesty all along per reporting. The Vice President and Mick Mulvaney have been supportive of some type of amnesty in the past.

We have learned this fact - however you get here (visas, illegal immigration, refugees, TPS), you seldom are forced to leave. We have no control over immigration.

Building the wall and enforcing immigration laws is the only winning hand for President Trump and for the future of America.

That is a completely stupid proposal. The Goodlatte and Grassley bills we opposed last year were FAR FAR FAR superior because we got Trump's 70 point legislative action and funding plan in return. To do anything on amnesty just for $5.7 billion for a couple hundred miles of wall is just dumb. So anyone who thinks they want a Pence or any other Republican instead of Trump in that oval office, needs their head examined.

I hope Axios gets egg on their face on this story like they did on the BuzzFeed story. I so hope this isn't true. But every female talk head on Fox News was pushing this. Including Laura Ingraham. Shutdowns are so dumb and they breed even dumber. They're suicide missions.

If this proposal comes true at 3:00 p.m. today, it will be Trump that will own it.

Sure. Of course, he'll own it. Trump already said he owns the shutdown so obviously he owns any deal or other outcome that derives from it. Like I said, this isn't a fight, it's a suicide mission for our cause. When you lose the election, you lose the seats, when you lose the seats, you lose the votes to do anything you wanted to do, instead you're stuck doing what the winners want.
