Trump supporters net GOP $40.3M in small donations

The Republican Party is racking up record amounts of small-dollar donations — fueled by Trump supporters whose anger at Washington is spurring them to shower cash on the president’s party.

GOP coffers have swelled by $40.3 million worth of contributions of $200 or less since Jan. 1, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Trump reveled in the news. “The RNC is taking in far more $’s than the Dems, and much of it by my wonderful small donors,” he boasted on Twitter. “I am working hard for them!”

The Democratic National Committee took in just $25.1 million from its depressed base in the same time frame, said the report.

The GOP’s take from grassroots contributors makes up more than 60 percent of its total through Aug. 31, the most recent figures available.

The party has not drawn this much in small donations since 2003, when it raked in $42.6 million from the base, The Washington Post reported.

“Can’t believe I finally got a good story in the @washingtonpost,” Trump said.

Most of the contributions coming to the Republican National Committee represent its 25 percent cut of small donations made to Trump’s re-election campaign.

The president’s Make America Great Again Committee texts and e-mails supporters relentlessly, asking them to respond to a poll, enter a contest or “send a message” to the president’s foes.

The messages also ask for cash to help Trump “drain the swamp” in the nation’s capital.

The small donations helped the RNC pull in $75 million in the first two quarters of 2017, almost double the Democrats’ $38 million.

Third-quarter fund-raising reports must be filed to the Federal Election Commission by Oct. 15.

Trump is raking in money from the wealthy, too — despite reports last week that some of the party’s biggest donors have snapped their wallets shut in frustration over the GOP’s legislative quagmire in Congress.

The president traveled to Greensboro, NC, Saturday evening for a private fund-raiser at the home of Republican mega-donor Louis DeJoy — with tickets costing up to $50,000 per person.

Trump spent a rare Saturday at the White House. He traveled during the day to his Virginia golf course, his first visit there since July.
