Trump: Why aren't 'beleaguered AG,' investigators looking at Hillary Clinton?

    07/24/17 09:21 AM EDT

President Trump on Monday asked why federal investigators and "beleaguered" Attorney General Jeff Sessions are not investigating Hillary Clinton for her "crimes" as well as ties to Russia.
"So why aren't the Committees and investigators, and of course our beleaguered [attorney general], looking into Crooked Hillarys crimes & Russia relations?" Trump asked in a tweet.

Just a few hours before, the president had also quoted Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), in which he said the Democratic Party should blame itself for losing the presidential election, not Russian interference."After [one] year of investigation with zero evidence being found, Chuck Schumer just stated that 'Democrats should blame ourselves, not Russia,'" Trump also tweeted. His remarks come amid both congressional and federal probes that are looking into whether Trump campaign aides colluded with the Russians to sway the presidential election in favor of Trump.

Trump also targeted members of his own party a day before for not supporting him during the multiple investigations.

"It's very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President," Trump said in one tweet on Sunday.

"As the phony Russian Witch Hunt continues, two groups are laughing at this excuse for a lost election taking hold, Democrats and Russians!" he added.

His tweets come after revelations that his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., had an undisclosed meeting with a Russian lawyer during the presidential campaign after an associate promised that he would receive compromising information about his father's Democratic opponent.

Hmm, appears President Trump is looking for a distraction to take media attention off his son and son-in-law.

I believe Clinton should be investigated. However, you, Mr. President, did not feel that way when you were elected. Actually, it was you that delcared that the Justice Department should not pursue investigations of Clinton.

The Attorney General needs to reverse the recusal and do so now.

I disagree. What you're asking is for Jeff Sessions to go against everything he has stood for during his many years of public service.

As a longtime member of the Senate Judiciary Committee during his years as a Republican senator from Alabama, Mr. Sessions repeatedly asked Justice Department nominees to pledge their independence from the president.

I don't know where the notion of Cabinet members independence from the Presidency and Executive Branch originated, but it was a stupid and highly unconstitutional notion to prefer loyalty to an un-elected bureaucracy over the elected Executive of the People of the United States. Any Cabinet member who is not committed to the President who appointed them and the Agenda on which they were elected can't do their job very well.

Congress set a trap for Sessions during the confirmation and unfortunately he walked into it. The Justice Department was primed and ready to disable him to every extent possible and he submitted. Sessions is a very nice man who is caught in a trap with no real way out of it except standing up and screaming to the corrupt media and the DemoQuacks in Congress, there are no crimes to investigate relating to Russia, and I am therefore withdrawing my recusal so I can run this department like it's supposed to be run.

Just my opinion, and I hope if anyone from the White House reads our forum they will pass the idea along.

Yes, I've been asking the same thing, like why aren't investigators looking into Crooked Hillary's ties to Benghazi, deleted emails, etc. And not to mention all the people who were tied to her and mysteriously died.

Probably because after campaigning on a promise to "lock her up!" right after being sworn in Trump said there would be no investigation or prosecution of the Clintons! By failing to go after the Clinton's like he promised, he opened the door for the Democrats to go after him on Russia!

So now Trump is passing blame on to Jeff Sessions when it was his own orders that DOJ not investigate or prosecute Hillary Clinton.

While Trump clearly regrets that mistake now, blaming Jeff Sessions for his own leadership mistakes is low and below the belt.
