Tucker Carlson on Catholic Church's newest scandal

Anyone else see Tucker Carlson's show on MSNBC tonight? He discussed a decision by the diocese of Orange County, CA to not fingerprint illegal aliens who volunteer with children in the parishes. Yep, the same Catholic Church that has lost supporters, donations, lawsuits, etc. over sexual abuse of children is now more concerned about the interests of illegal aliens than those of children. The talking head from the CAtholic Church said it was the FBIs fault for not accepting matricula consular cards as identification for background checks. So, instead of fingerprinting volunteers who have no valid id they will just accept a signed statement that they (the illegals) have not been convicted of a sexual crime against a minor along with two references. That's it! What price can we put on a child's safety? What's the value of an illegal alien's word? Why should any child molester admit to having id--hey it's open season on kids at the Orange County diocese! Has the world gone insane?

    Dioceses: Pedophile checks deter illegals

LOS ANGELES — The Roman Catholic dioceses of Los Angeles and Orange County have backed away from a promise to conduct fingerprint background checks on anyone working with children, saying they don’t want to lose volunteers who are illegal immigrants.

The dioceses had pledged to do the fingerprint background checks as a way to prevent pedophiles from working with children. But church leaders said the background checks could prevent illegal immigrants from volunteering, since they lack governmentissued photo IDs, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

Instead, volunteer candidates without photo IDs in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are allowed to give a sworn affidavit stating that they have not been convicted of any crime, officials said. In Orange County, they can provide a sworn affidavit and two character-reference letters.

They’ll be supervised whenever they’re working with children, officials said.

“We are doing this because [immigrants ] want to participate, they want to serve their church and we want to welcome them,” said Orange County Auxiliary Bishop Jaime Soto.

More than 70, 000 priests, employees and volunteers have been fingerprinted in the two dioceses, church officials said. In the Orange County diocese, the background checks have resulted in the removal of nine people with violent crime convictions and two others with records of sexual abuse, chancellor Shirl Giacomi said.

Whenever I see an instance where RICO prosecution may be applicable in the enforcement of immigration laws, I post it. The lawmakers and city of Los Angeles, and any other business or entity ENCOURAGING illegal immigration have set themselves up for racketeering charges.

You might wish to advise Orange County Auxiliary Bishop Jaime Soto to do a risk assessment of this policy. Based on information posted at the Center for Immigration Studies website, the church may be setting itself up for RICO prosecution.
