Two just knocked at my door

Only minutes ago there was a knock at my door and I opened it to two illegals (I know they are illegal because the truck they were driving had the landscaping company's name on it. This company is owned and operated by an illegal from Mexico). Anway, they wanted to know if I needed any landscaping done, and also tried to sell me some old wood for firewood.

We don't have day labor sites here so I guess they are resorting to going door to door now.

That happens where I live too. We also get mobbed with fliers put on our doors and mailboxes. It is a nightmare if you have to go out of town, it is like a big neon sign saying "we're not home". We have to ask a neighbor to remove all of the paper so it isn't so obvious. Most of the time, the fliers are blowing around the neighborhood, and we have to go out and clean everything up. The city doesn't say a word.

Don't ya just hate it when that happens? I've had women that were most likely illegal come to my door trying to sell tamales. There is no way I would buy anything from them.

You know now that I think about it I was really dumb to open the door even though they looked harmless.

I have been shielded from that part of it thus far. I know that they stop at job sites and try to undercut contractors, but I have never had any knock at the door. Guess I have been lucky that way. Hope it doesn't continue though.

Where abouts do you live Annie?

Some time ago I had a guy come walking up to me asking if he could use my phone, I also saw some movement out in the brush, I told him to wait a minute and went in and called BP then let him in, when he got off the phone we went outside just as BP was pulling in and I showed him where the others were hiding, this guy was not very happy with me.

I live in the mountains above Temecula--in Southern California,
and five years ago used to have lots of men coming to the door
asking for trabajo? (work). Also, women wanting to know if
I wanted my house cleaned. This used to happen between
avocado picking times. Then the building of homes expanded and
many of them got work in construction. If the blue card thing
passes, and construction stays slowed, I wonder how many more
knocks at my door, and how many will ask me to lie for them,
so they can get a blue card.

Five years ago there were no DL sites
in Temecula--now there is. During the elections, a school teacher
from Murrieta called wanting me to vote for school bond, since
they have had to expand to trailors. I told her there would be
plenty of room at the school if they would not be teaching illegals,
and as far as I'm concerned, they can do their esl thing in trailers.

I would be interested to know in what parts of the country the illegals
are going door to door and also, if construction has slowed when this
    started to occur.

No, but apparently you did. Go smoke it someplace else.

I'm in MA, but don't hold it against me.. No BP to call here and our local law enforcement can't do anything they say.

Been to the border a couple of times with the MM. So I understand we don't have the same issues up here as you do, but it is getting really bad.

As I replied to MountainDog, I am in MA. I think your last question is a valid one. I live in a tourist community, 8000 residents in the winter, and almost 50,000 in the summer. Illegals have flocked here for the summer jobs, in restaraunts, landscaping, building, etc. So when winter hits these illegals don't have anything to do because the 'beautiful people' are somewhere else in their winter homes. I think that is why I got the knock at the door today. There isn't enough work to sustain them for the winter.
