BREAKING: Republican 2016 Candidate Calls for Abolishing the UN

Ever since the United Nations was established shortly after World War II, political leaders have intermittently called for the United States to either defund the organization or withdraw its membership.

Sen. Rand Paul, who nearly a month ago announced that he was running for president, has said that he would be “happy to dissolve” the organization.

Over the decades, new, small nations in Africa and Asia have become independent after decades of European colonization and have joined the U.N. This has caused a shift in power, especially in the organization’s General Assembly, and has many Americans calling the U.N. a “dictators club.”

American gun owners, especially, believe the U.N. is trampling on the rights of American citizens, especially their constitutional right to bear arms. They point to U.N. support of a worldwide gun-control plan known as theU.N. Arms and Trade Treaty.

President Barack Obama has signed the treaty, but it has not been ratified by the Senate.

It was an audience of gun-right activists in New Hampshire who were listening to Paul when he said, “I dislike paying for something that two-bit Third World countries with no freedom attack us and complain about the United States.”

Even before announcing his candidacy, Paul has been known to support U.S. sovereignty and has criticized the U.N. for exceeding its authority. He has suggested that America limit or cut off its funding of the U.N., which is currently 25 percent of the organization’s budget.

To an extent, Paul is following in his father’s footsteps. Former lawmaker Ron Paul also supported defunding the U.N. or withdrawing from it completely. Over the years, his opinions have gained more and more adherents.

The liberal media, specifically MSNBC and Bloomberg, have reported Paul’s U.N. message and portray the Kentucky senator as some kind of nutcase. But, in fact, these media outlets just show how out of touch they are with mainstream Americans.
A 2014 Gallup poll revealed that 57 percent of respondents thought the U.N. was doing a “bad job” (H/T New American).
On this issue, Sen. Rand Paul has kept his finger on the pulse of American voter sentiment.

If you believe the U.N. is exceeding its authority and threatens the rights of Americans, please share this article on Facebook with your friends and relatives.
