A judge at Oxford Crown Court has sentenced a man with a foreign background to 11 years in prison after finding him guilty of multiple child sex offenses earlier this year.
Following trial proceedings which lasted a total of seven days, Sabir Hussain, aged 42, was found guilty of one count of child rape and 12 counts of indecent assault on a child. Hussain was convicted on February 4th, 2020 and received his sentenced last Wednesday, according to a report from the Thames Valley Police.
After Hussain received his sentence, police praised the ‘courage and dignity’ of the man who Hussain sexually abused as a child.
The crimes took place in Oxfordshire over a six-year period in the 1990s when Hussain carried out multiple sexual offenses against the victim who was under the age of 16 at the time. Hussain’s crimes were brought to light when the victim finally went to police in 2017. Two years later, charges were brought forth against the foreign pedophile.
Responding to the crimes committed against the victim, special investigator Mark Hewston of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit in Oxford said: “These grave offences came to light many years after Hussain had committed them and his crimes have had a lasting impact on his victim.”
“I would like to pay tribute to him for his courage and dignity in coming forward and reporting these crimes,” Hewston continued.
“He has supported our investigation from the outset, and I hope that this conviction and sentence will allow at least some closure for him and that he can now move on with his life.”
“Thames Valley Police will always investigate sex offences, no matter what the passage of time, and I would encourage anybody who has been a victim of any form of sexual offence and has not reported it to please do so.”
“You will be listened to and we will work to bring offenders to justice.”
“Hussain thought he had got away with his offending, but this investigation and subsequent conviction shows that we will pursue and prosecute offenders.”
“Hussain will spend a lengthy spell in prison for his crimes, where I hope that he will reflect upon his actions,” Hewston concluded.
