Rush Limbaugh: Things I'd Love to See at State of the Coup

Things I'd Love to See at State of the Coup

January 28, 2014
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Folks, let me tell you one thing we're not gonna do today. We are not gonna sit here and be totally taken off our game by speculating what may happen at the State of the Coup addresstonight. I mean, it's predictable. I'm gonna show you, I'm gonna go back, I'm gonna play some sound bites of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama in previous States of the Coup addresses. Well, no, those were State of the Union addresses. Tonight is the State of the Coup. And you'll see how things don't change.
But more than that, it's all driven by the media. It's all to set up expectations and it's all to counter the absolutely disastrous, plummeting poll numbers that Obama is experiencing. No matter where you look the bottom is falling out. They're doing everything they can to cover that up and mask it, but it's hard to miss it. Even if you don't know where to look. And I will explain all this.
We're gonna have some fun with this. For example, I have a suggestion for Republicans tonight. I know it'll never happen, but you know what I would love to see? I would love to see two things. This will never happen. I'd love to see John Boehner show up in a white lab coat sitting behind Obama as a doctor that has lost his practice. Do you know Tom Coburn, senator, Oklahoma, has lost his doctor? He's a senator. He's lost his doctor. Now, he's got cancer, and obviously he's a senator so he's gonna get a replacement doctor and be treated, but even he lost his doctor.
So we know that Boehner will never show up wearing a white lab coat. Nobody has a sense of humor. Too much prestige and tradition here. I understand that. However, wouldn't it be great if now and then -- you know, the camera will pan and show the audience, members of the House and the Senate, watching the State of the Union. Wouldn't it be great, and a very timely gesture that Republicans could make tonight, would be to demonstrate support of Obama the way Obama demonstrated support for Nelson Mandela at the week-long memorial service.
I think what the male Republican ought to do is find an attractive woman, not his wife, and put his arm around her and start taking some selfies while Obama is delivering the State of the Coup address. Would that not be hilarious? Would that not be eye catching? I had some really brilliant ideas yesterday for the White House Correspondents Dinner, and I'm just adding to it today. We know it'll never happen because the Republicans, they would never do it. But Obama did do it.
This is the point, folks. Obama did do it at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela. He was seated next to a blonde prime minister, president, whatever, Denmark, Norway, one of those countries up there near the North Pole, and he was putting his arm around her and taking selfies. Michelle was sitting there like the ice queen, noticing but not looking at it. I think these Republicans should take selfies all during the speech, try to work in another man's wife whenever possible as Obama did at the Nelson Mandela memorial.

Here is Tom Coburn. This is a Politico story. "Cancer-stricken Sen. Tom Coburn revealed Tuesday that his health insurance under Obamacare doesn’t cover his oncologist, but said he still is receiving excellent care." Now, he's a doctor. He is a United States senator. Ninety-nine percent of us do not have that resume, and even he could not keep his doctor. Obama promised him he could keep his doctor if he liked his doctor, but not even Senator Tom Coburn could.
"'I’m doing well from a health standpoint, got great docs,' Coburn said on MSNBC’s 'Morning Joe' on Tuesday when asked about his health. 'Fortunately -- even though my new coverage won’t cover my specialist -- I’m going to have great care and I have a great prognosis.'"
"My new coverage won't cover my specialist." He is a United States senator. Where do you think that puts us in the big scheme of things?

RUSH: Really, if you're gonna do a drinking game tonight... You know, we've often suggested this, drinking games. Pick a word, and every time you hear the word, you gotta take a shot, gonna take a hit. If you want to do this and stay sober tonight, you tell your group that you will only consume adult beverages every time you hear the word "Wisconsin" mentioned, 'cause I guarantee you, ladies and gentlemen, you won't hear Wisconsin mentioned because you will not hear it from the president tonight.
You will not hear him take note of anything that's actually working, and Wisconsin is working. You won't hear what the governor there is doing. You will not hear what the governor is doing that has worked so well. You won't hear about that tonight. I still say that I would love to see the Republicans, now and then, put their arms around women who are married to other men and take pictures of themselves, selfies, like Obama did at the Mandela memorial.
Wouldn't that be great? That would just be so great! They could guarantee themselves holding onto the House if they did that.

THE SOTU DRINKING GAME

By:
Teresa Mull
1/28/2014 03:55 PM

The president’s State of the Union address is tonight. If you find you’ve already Hulu-ed The Bachelor and finally come to grips with the fact thatFraiser is never coming back, you may have to end up watching it.
Sigh.
The only way to get through life is to have fun. Games are fun. Drinking is fun. Drinking games are the most fun.
Out of the goodness of our hearts and the creative passion of our souls, HEhas created an entertaining diversion to make Obama’s speech tolerable. (And with any luck you won’t remember any of it!)
Every time the president says “income inequality,” drink a Boilermaker. But make sure it’s equal parts 12 ounce beer and 12 ounce whisky shot. It just wouldn’t do to ingest more of one spirit over the other.
Each time the president brings up immigration, eat the worm from the bottom of the tequila bottle. We need to make room in this country for more border hoppers.
Whenever the camera pans to John Boehner, take a swig of Campari to commiserate with him and the sour taste he must constantly have left in his mouth from sitting through things like Obama speeches.
If and when Barry brings up Obamacare (he might want the American people to forget that one), chug that bottle of Cupcake Whipped Cream Vodka you have left over from that Christmas gift basket. Cupcake brand has been distilled six times, kind of like the multiple delays of the law’s mandates. It is also sugar-coated,vapid, and bad for your health, just like something else we know…
Every time the president uses the word “folks,” drink some “Old Grand-dad,” because that is the only sort of person who should be using such a term.
When the president doesn’t mention the Keystone Pipeline, crack open a Keystone(obviously), and shotgun it for Second Amendment Rights Awareness.
If the minimum wage is mentioned, feel free to sip an icy O’Doul’s NA, which makes about as much sense.
Finally, keep a bottle of wine handy to honor the theme of the whole experience. (Wine = whine, get it?) Any kind will do.
Warning* You will likely wake up the same headache you’ve had every day you’ve woken up and remembered Obama is president.

Introducing: The State of the Union Drinking Game!

Emily Hulsey | On 27, Jan 2014

Looking for a way to make Tuesday’s State of the Union address more exciting? Try out Generation Opportunity’s SOTU drinking game:

To anyone brave enough to try it, please proceed with caution; I envision quite a few utterances of “let me be clear” and “income inequality” before the night is over.

Always drink responsibly. Never drink and drive.

This Ridiculous Video of 'Empty Suit' Obama is What People See After Five Years of Empty Promises

Mike Miller | On 28, Jan 2014

The American Action Network slams Barack Obama’s record of empty talk in a new web-based ad entitled “Empty Suit.” Clever. Funny, too.

American Action is promoting the ad in conjunction with Obama’s Tuesday State of the Union address. (H/T WFB)

Without legislation? What’s the point of Congress if you just bypass them?

The "Real" State Of The Union In Just 889 Words...

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/28/2014 15:42 -0500

Submitted by Simon Black

Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, members of Congress, fellow citizens:
This summer we will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I.
This senseless, destructive war was started and championed by politicians who cared nothing for the 9 million people who lost their lives.
And in doing so, they began a century of warfare which continues to this day.
Our military industrial complex is larger than ever. We have nearly 2 million troops and national guardsmen, plus 3.5 million civilians employed in the defense sector.
With such awesome capabilities, we continue to resort to violence and death to exact political goals which benefit a tiny elite.
All of this has created a police state in the Land of the Free that is a far cry from the country we all grew up in.
Your government has spawned a culture of fear and intimidation. Nearly every federal agency, including the Fish and Wildlife Service, has its own gun-toting police force to pistol-whip citizens into submission.
And we're stocking up. Your government has recently procured 1.6 BILLION rounds of hollow-point ammunition to supplement our existing supplies.
But frankly, we don't need guns to harass citizens.
Our tax authorities have become more threatening than mafia warlords. The plunder is so severe that record numbers of Americans are renouncing their citizenship and leaving the country.
There are now dozens of federal, state, and local agencies and courts which have the power to confiscate your assets without any due process.
In addition to your house, your business, and your savings, we also have the authority to take your children away from you as if they are property of the state.
We are here to tell you what you can and cannot put in your own body, or whether you can collect rainwater that falls on own property.
In fact, on any given business day, the federal government issues hundreds of pages of new 'rules', proposed regulations, draft bills, executive orders, and/or regulatory notices.
And if you are not compliant with these rules, you may be committing a crime. Whether you know it or not.
When this nation was founded, there were four federal crimes on the books. Today there are THOUSANDS. Plus we have millions of government employees at all levels to enforce the penalties.
All of this, of course, is financed by you the tax slave.
You (plus unborn generations) are the poor suckers charged with paying off the national debt we politicians have created.
Officially the debt is just north of $17 trillion. But if you include Social Security and pension shortfalls, the figure is several times higher.
You'll never know for sure because we have become masters of deceit regarding official statistics, whether inflation, unemployment, or our liabilities.
But the situation is so dire that the Congressional Budget Office projects the Social Security Administration's disability insurance trust fund to RUN OUT by 2017.
We get by year after year by increasing the debt. And at well over 100% of GDP, we have truly reached the point of no return.
We are now in a position where we must default. Either we must default on our national debt, or we must default on our obligations to you the citizens.
We may end up stealing your savings. Robbing your Social Security. Taxing you to death. Or simply inflating away the value of our debt.
Naturally, we're going to screw you in the process somehow... so be prepared for that. Especially the inflationary tidal wave that's coming.
Our central bank has expanded its balance sheet at an unprecedented pace, creating massive asset bubbles in its wake. These asset bubbles have disproportionately benefited the ultra-wealthy at the expense of everyone else.
Such wanton money printing has also been tremendously destructive to our credibility. Other nations worry about our reckless irresponsibility. That's why we keep spying on them.
Make no mistake: the consequences of our actions are here. And the days of the United States as the world's dominant superpower are finished.
As the decline hastens, we will struggle to sell our debt to the world and to ship our dollars abroad. Fewer nations will be interested in our empty promises.
And without the generosity of other nations loaning us money at record low interest rates that fail to keep pace with inflation, you will really be screwed.
When this happens, you can absolutely count on us to clamp down even harder on the economy and control even more of your lives. For your own good, of course.
No, this may not be the country that you all grew up in. But it is the state of our union... whatever remains of it.
And so my fellow Americans, I urge you to grab your ankles and get ready for a little 'shared sacrifice'.
But don't worry about me, or my senior staff. We will leave government with cushy pensions, $750,000 speaking fees, board seats on public companies, and top positions in the industries that we have accommodated at your expense.
And of course I will be paid handsomely for the arrogant memoirs I will write in which I deny any responsibility for the shit I've gotten you all into.
So when I say "shared sacrifice", I really mean "your sacrifice".
Thank you. God bless you, and God bless these United States of America.

State of the Coup Overview: A Huge Disconnect Between Washington and Us

January 29, 2014BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I really did not want to watch that last night, and it's the first time in the 25 years I've been doing this show I did not want to watch it. Honestly, folks, for the first time. I did, I did out of a sense of duty, but I didn't want to. And for the first time in 25 years I never felt more distant from my government than last night. Watching that, practically every aspect of it, I felt like that's not us. That's a whole different world there. That's a whole different mind-set, it's a whole different existence, it's not us. I felt a huge disconnect. And when they switched off from Obama and the cameras showed you the crowd, the Congress sitting there, honestly, folks, I thought I was looking at the Star Wars bar scene half the time.
Anyway, greetings and great to have you here, Rush Limbaugh, the EIB Network and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies. Telephone number is 800-282-2882. The e-mail address, ElRushbo@eibnet.com.

So I did watch it. I watched it under duress, not really wanting to. And the reason is, I don't believe anything anymore, or very little. I think everything is PR, everything is a game, everything is designed to effect a result rooted in emotion. And that's not good. I literally didn't feel like I had much in common with what was being discussed. I mean, I realized I was a target, as all of us are. That's the thing, too. I mean, we've got Washington, DC, it's its own enclave, and it is governing against the will of the people.
The latest polling data, for example, on global warming, it is last on the list of things people care about. Last. Immigration just barely above it. Immigration reform, amnesty. Nobody, nobody believes the global warming thing anymore, and amnesty is something nobody in the country, a vast majority, don't want. Yet that doesn't matter. Washington's going to do what it's going to do regardless, and they're going to insult our intelligence in the process by trying to make us think that we do want it. Or trying to make those of us that poll in the majority think that we're not really the majority, that we're the ones out of touch. Like campaign finance reform. I thought the whole thing bordered on insulting.
Now, as for the speech itself, this was incredible. Do you people -- I don't mean "you people" in an insulting way -- do you realize the stuff Obama talked about last night, he rejected all of that in the campaign of 2008? He doesn't believe any of that stuff last night. The one positive you might want to take out of it, here you've got a president who's in trouble, his party is in trouble, and what do they always do? Obama tried to sound, in matters economic, pocketbook, he tried to sound as unlike he really is as he could pull off. Now, he's never going to sound like a conservative. But he certainly dialed down the community organizer identity and rhetoric last night.

It was funny watching. I thought Frank Luntz retired and went to Hollywood, but there he was on Fox after the speech with his focus group, and it was interesting. I think there were a lot of Obama voters in that group. The ones that I said, "I didn't think he was enthusiastic enough." What in the world were you watching? He was enthusiastic as he could be. It was just all phony. It was contrived energy. But the stuff that he was talking about last night are things that he has rejected philosophically, that he doesn't really believe in. So that's the one upper if you want to stretch and try to find one in it.
The overall concern for me is just the disconnect that I feel from that whole thing. I have a sneaking suspicion that many of you are the same way. There really isn't anything we feel like we've got in common. Interests are not joint. And it seems as though that is of nobody's concern there. But we will endeavor to forge ahead, ladies and gentlemen. I'll tell you, without that speech last night, the State of the Coup, I would never have known how good things are. I mean, it really struck me. Did you hear the president? Did you listen to it last night? Did you watch it?
I mean, if you watched it and you were from Mars, you would think that this country has never had a stronger economy. We have never been positioned better. We are kicking butt. We are kicking butt and taking names. We are just rocking. We are tearing it down. We are the envy of the world. I would have never known how good things are had I not watched this speech. But this speech is the kind of disconnect that gets people in the private sector fired or sued or committed. It was so far off from reality. So here in the middle of talking about how many jobs have been created and how great the job recovery's going, we got a whole segment on the need for job training centers.
Why are 50 million people on food stamps, Mr. President? Twenty million more people on food stamps than when you were inaugurated. Why, if the economy is growing so rapidly and if job creation is so momentous, why do we need emergency unemployment extensions? Why are 92 million Americans on the sidelines? If we've got such a robust, roaring economy, and the job market is racing back to normal, why are 92 million Americans not in it?
Grab sound bite number 20. This one, the president stood up there and he basically said to Congress (imitating Obama), "I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do, and if you don't want to do it, screw you," and they stood up and applauded him. He basically told 'em I'm gonna screw you if I have to. If you get in the way of what I want to do when I pretend to be dictator, screw you, and they stood up, the Democrat side, and applauded. Here's how it sounded.
OBAMA: I'm eager to work with all of you. But America does not stand still, and neither will I. So wherever and whenever I can take steps without legislation to expand opportunity for more American families, that's what I'm gonna do. (applause)

RUSH: Look at this. They're standing up and they're applauding this. Standing ovation on the Democrat side. But then why do we need to do anything to expand opportunity for more American families, because if you listen to this speech last night, there's nothing else to be done. We've restored that. There is endless opportunity for American families, except the ones living paycheck to paycheck. And there's endless opportunity for people to go out and find careers and jobs, except for the people that can only find a gig for 29 hours a week. And there's so much burgeoning, we're gonna have a summit here on tuitions. We're gonna make sure everybody gets to go to college except for those who are indebted for the rest of their lives to student loans and degrees for which there's no work.
I just thought it was rank amateur. I think this is such a letdown. I don't know how to describe it, folks. It's disappointing. Bragging about a recovery which is the worst one since the Great Depression.
Why are 92 million people on the sidelines? Why are there 20 million more Americans on food stamps than when he was inaugurated? Why do we need endless emergency unemployment extensions? The answer is because he has been president since 2009. That's why. Why are so many Americans losing their health insurance? Why are so many Americans now unable to afford health insurance after the implementation of Obamacare?
Because he has been president since 2009.
You know what this was? This was a campaign speech without an election. It was pure denial. The president last night was pretending to run for office in the hopes of winning an election, so at some point in the future he can govern. The whole night I kept saying, "Wait a minute. We're five years into this. This speech is a speech that should have been given five years ago." This speech should have been given five years ago.
Now we're five years into his Regime and we still got a campaign speech, and it was aimed right at the low-information voter. It was a distraction from the destruction, pure and simple. Words about pens, words about phones, words without substance that ignored the realities of the last five years. This speech was written and rehearsed so as to position the president as an energetic man of action, to make you forget that the country is in deep trouble, to make you forget that a tremendous fraud has been perpetrated on the American people.
Because promises made by an energetic and enthusiastic man sound so good. Snake oil needs a good salesman, and that's what Obama was last night. The energetic, enthusiastic president says he will slash the bureaucracy, streamline permitting process for key projects. He's not gonna do anything of the sort. He is the obstacle to all of that. "Climate change is a fact!" Nobody cares. The highlight of the night was the last thing that happened.

That was the tribute to the soldier, the Army Ranger, Remsburg, who was nearly killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. He got the longest sustained and genuine applause of the night -- the only genuine applause of the night, and the longest, and the deepest, and the most sincere, and the most appreciative of the night. It went on and on and on. I want to read to you a tweet sent out by the senior political editor for NBC News, Mark Murray. This is an actual tweet from an actual objective, professional journalist at NBC News.
Here is the tweet: "Obama's ending on Remsburg wasn't just a story about America -- it also was a story about Obama. Nothing has ever come easy." Does that bother you or offend you, that a member of the press sat through that and saw Obama in that story? Obama doesn't know the half of what Mr. Remsburg has experienced. It really is kind of perverted, convoluted, sick, what have you, to try to compare (and insert Obama in) that story -- and it made me wonder.
Maybe that was the purpose of it.
Maybe Obama's trying to hijack that poor man's story, insert himself in it, 'cause here's this political director/editor for NBC News: It "wasn't just a story about America." I thought it was a story about the soldier, frankly. What does this story say about America? Obama ending on Remsburg "wasn't just a story about America -- it was also a story about Obama"? "Nothing has ever come easy"? Chew on that.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: I'll just give you some more observations on amnesty -- which, again, we don't want. It is not important. The American people are not interested in it (which doesn't matter). We're not interested in climate change. That doesn't matter. So the president in the speech last night praised the job market, praised the economic recovery, highlighted how many jobs have been created and how rapidly it's happening.
They're good jobs, and all of this.

It wasn't true. And then he would say, "Not enough people are working! We need to have job-training centers open and we need to retrain people," and I said, "What is school for? Why do we need all these federal programs to tell people how to work? You don't want 'em to work anyway!" There's a state, ladies and gentlemen, that a lot can be learned from. It's North Carolina. North Carolina has done away with the extension, the emergency unemployment benefits -- and you know what?
The unemployment rate is plummeting in North Carolina.
It's common sense.
Pay people not to work and they're not gonna work. Obama promised he wants to pay people. He wants to continue to pay people not to work. That got a standing ovation. But the contradiction was profound. On the one hand, we got great job creation and we got a growing economy -- it's finally taking off and it's just going gangbusters -- and over here we got all these people that can't find a job and we need to extend their unemployment benefits, and we need to do it now.
And if we don't do it, if Congress doesn't do it, he's gonna do it himself -- and then you go to the real world in North Carolina where they've done away with it, and the unemployment rate is plummeting. Because when you're not being paid not to work, you gotta have somebody else to pay you. So people are going out and finding work. There's no big job boom or oil boom in North Carolina that would explain their unemployment rate coming down.
It's simply they've done away with the benefits.
So the president says, "Not enough people are working," on the one hand, and yet everybody's working. But because not enough people are working, we want to flood the job market with illegal immigrants 'cause that's "the right thing to do," and America's a beacon. Obama said women need equal pay. This, you know, "Women earn 77¢ for every $1 a man earns" is 10-, 20-year-old stuff. It's no longer true. It basically wasn't even true when it was first used. But the one thing, if you watched it -- and it's hard to pick one.
But when the president said... I might have this in the sound bites. I don't know. I probably do, but I don't have time to find it. When he said that the American people "want us in Washington to work to go to find solutions," no, we don't! That's the problem! We don't want you doing any more. Leave us alone! We don't need you! We don't need Congress tampering in the job market with job-training centers, job-creation programs. That's not how it happens! You people don't do that. You don't even know how to do it.
