Urge Pres. Trump to Reduce Legal Immigration Numbers
Urge Pres. Trump to Reduce Legal Immigration Numbers

also a story from NYT last month of bad choice pro immigration Economic Advisor Hassett, though not yet confirmed, as he wants to double immigration. excerpt:
“It would be nice, considering how important the immigration issue has been to Trump, to have gotten an economist to this position who was at least not a booster for higher immigration,” said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, an anti-immigration think tank.

In the most recent issue of The Economist, Pres. Trump is quoted as saying that his merit-based immigration system would not reduce legal immigration to the United States. In fact, the reporter asked Trump directly if he would cut legal immigration numbers. This statement from the President seems to contradict past statements he's made, including during his Joint Address to Congress, that he would seek an immigration system that serves the national interest and would protect American workers.
But the numbers of those people could be as high as the numbers that are coming in legally now? You're not looking to reduce the numbers?
TRUMP: Oh yeah, no, no, no, no, we want people coming in legally. No, very strongly.
Please send a message to the White House, urging Pres. Trump to reduce legal immigration and the pressure on American workers by supporting Sen. Tom Cotton's (R-Ark.) RAISE Act, which would cut legal immigration by up to 50%. If you have a Twitter account, there's also an option to send Pres. Trump a Tweet by clicking on the Twitter icon.

My guess is he'll support that bill and sign it into law. When it get to committee hearings and floor debates, I'm sure he'll firmly support it. See merit-based means reduced numbers, it means eliminating green cards for family members and ending chain migration. It would be nice if Trump could be interviewed by someone somewhere who asks him an important question, like "do you support the RAISE ACT, introduced by Tom Cotton that reduces green cards from 1.1 million to less than 500,000 annually?" I'm sure he would say, "YES, very strongly". Because these are the non-merit-based freeloaders signing up for welfare and stealing jobs from Americans.
