Near miss by the Double Hit Land Hurricane Super Derecho

that slammed the Eastern US this past Friday night and again on Sunday afternoon. Nothing like unexpected 100mph gusts and storms hitting your after midnight. Or watching the back yard turn into the wizard of oz on a Sunday afternoon.

May God aid all of our brothers and sisters out there in the disaster areas tonight.

How many Americans are huddled in their homes with their shotgun because the whole neighborhood has been dark for days and most people know the cops are not coming and all the burglar alarms are offline?

Special prayers for those facing historic heat in powerless homes, especially those who care for small children, the elderly, the infirm, and pregnant women who should not be exposed to such temperatures for extended periods of time.

And let us say a very special prayer for the families of the at least 18 people that have lost their lives this past weekend from this freakish unexpected apocalyptic weather. Long live the preppers, the fire and rescue folks, the cops, the churches, the Tea Party folks, and the darn good Christian neighbors that are helping each other out there tonight.

God bless those that have tried to be prepared for unexpected calamity and to be in a position to help their families and others of their choosing through forethought, preparation, and planning.

Those of us here in NC were very lucky to have been spared except for damages down east near the outer banks. What the hell just hit of folks? Land Hurricane may butt, they are just saying that because they dont want to scare people by saying "we don't really know what that was because nobody has ever seen that happen before." And when was the last reported "Super Derecho" for almost the entire eastern seaboard? Did someone set off a sub orbital or high altitude nuke twice in the same weekend or what?

When I lived in Fayetteville in 1982, we had a long row of huge Southern Pines in our back yard. God was with us as we sat at our bedroom windows and watched a tornado go straight down the row, not more than 100 feet from our house and break every one of the pines like a toothpick and never touch our house.

Was thinking along those same lines kathyet & W. I know it's not like anything I've ever experienced in my 48 years and my 82 year old aunt said she'd never seen anything like it either. Certainly an odd thing to happen, not like any 'natural' weather related occurrence.
