VFW rips Trump's 'out-of-bounds' attack on Khan family

The Veterans of Foreign Wars blasted Donald Trump on Monday for his comments about Ghazala Khan, the mother of a fallen Muslim Army captain, calling the Republican nominee "out of bounds."

“Election year or not, the VFW will not tolerate anyone berating a Gold Star family member for exercising his or her right of speech or expression,” said VFW leader Brian Duffy in a statement.

Trump said in his interview with ABC that aired Sunday that Ghazala Khan "wasn't allowed to have anything to say" as her husband, Khizr, criticized the Republican nominee at the Democratic National Convention last week.

“There are certain sacrosanct subjects that no amount of wordsmithing can repair once crossed,” Duffy said in the statement. “Giving one’s life to nation is the greatest sacrifice, followed closely by all Gold Star families, who have a right to make their voices heard.”

Both Trump and Hillary Clinton spoke at the organization's convention last week in North Carolina.

"And to think: She was here yesterday," Trump said during his speech as some in the crowd chanted, "Lock her up."

"I guess she didn't do very well."

WHOA!! Hold on a gawd dang minute. So what are you saying, Brian Duffy??!! That there are two standards of free speech country? One for Gold Star families and another one for the rest of US? Really?

You think Gold Star families can show up to promote foreign Muslim immigration and attack a candidate for President of the United States who wants to stop that immigration until we have a vetting process that guarantees no Radical Islamic Terrorists are entering the US through our visa and immigration processes and the candidate being attacked has to bite their tongue, stay silent, run and hide instead of respond??!!

ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! You need to resign your position, go to corner, sit down and shut up.

From a family of Veterans, starting with the Revolutionary War, let me tell you, that is not what real American military personnel believe and that is not the principles they fight for.

Khan is a foreign Muslim who migrated here to date under very suspicious circumstances. There is no clarity in any of the news reporting on why he came here, on what type of visa, for what purpose. It is now known that he an immigration lawyer who makes his living off of Muslim immigration, so his platform was not about the Constitution which has nothing to do with immigration other than the right of the federal government to prohibit it, there are no "immigration rights" into the US under the US Constitution, no matter how many times Mr. Khan cons the uninformed public into believing otherwise by waving his copy of something, we don't even know if it was the US Constitution.

NO ONE GETS A FREE PASS TO ATTACK ANYONE IN THIS COUNTRY. NO ONE.

Everyone has the right and obligation in my view to respond in whatever manner they feel appropriate. But no one gets a free pass because their son in a War 12 years ago. You want to attack a Presidential candidate whose policy would bring your immigration legal services fee business to a halt??!!! Fine. Join the parasites draining this country dry as a bone and say so. But don't wave something you call the Constitution and point your fingers at the American People on national television and attack a candidate for President of the United States and expect that you are somehow above a response.

You attack a counter-puncher, you're going to get punched. Period.

That's why tens of millions of US like and support Donald Trump. We are also the same people who donate to the VFW. If you think Bernie supporters are donating to the VFW, think again. If you think these big mouth liberal women are donating to the VFW, think again.

Brian Duffy, you've just attacked the candidate of the people who made him the Republican nominee, and these are the people, the same people who donate to the VFW.

These are also the same people who SUPPORT the ban on Muslim immigration until we can properly vet these people to ensure they aren't coming here for illicit purpose with radical ideas and harmful plans.

Brian Duffy, you have put yourself in the STUPID category.

It's hypocritical for those who opposed the Iraq war, or have been criticizing GW Bush and those who supported it, to turn this tragedy into political fodder.

Either they were for it and accept the consequences. But since most of these people have taken positions against it, they should not turn the unfortunate man's death into political artillery.

I'm a card carrying member of the VFW and Mr. Duffy doesn't speak for me. However, I do believe Trump would have been better off not saying anything on the issue. We desperately need him to win, but to do that he needs to at least make an attempt to play the game of acting presidential. It's a known fact that the liberal media is going to jump on him like a tick would a fat hound whenever something that can be twisted into a negative presents itself. The primaries are over and we're in the homestretch now. I honestly believe the only thing that can stop Donald now is Donald because Hillary is damaged beyond repair. Let's take advantage of that, Mr. Trump, by not tripping over our own feet before we reach the finish line.
