Ted Cruz to pick Carly Fiorina as vice president if he wins Republican nomination, reports say

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on Wednesday was expected to announce that former business executive Carly Fiorina will be his vice presidential running mate if he wins his party's nomination, ABC affiliate WMUR reported, citing unnamed sources.

The report by WMUR, an ABC station in Manchester, New Hampshire, followed a statement from Cruz that he would make a major announcement at a 4 p.m. EDT (2000 GMT) rally. He gave no further details.

Fiorina, 61, endorsed Cruz, a 45-year-old U.S. senator from Texas, for the nomination in March, one month after dropping out of the Republican race herself.

The announcement of a running mate at this point in the campaign would be unusually early.

Traditionally, the winners of the Republican and Democratic nominating contests announce their running mates for November's general election at their parties' summer national conventions.

Picking a running mate could be seen as part of a bid by Cruz to recover from Tuesday's crushing loss to Trump, who swept party nominating contests in five U.S. Northeastern states.

The victories brought the New York billionaire closer to the 1,237 Republican National Convention delegates he needs to win the nomination at the July 18-21 event in Cleveland.

Trump, 69, defeated Cruz and his second rival, Ohio Governor John Kasich, 63, in all five states that held primary elections on Tuesday:

Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The race has pivoted to Indiana's primary next Tuesday, which was shaping up to be Cruz's best - and perhaps last - chance to slow Trump's momentum in the battle for the nomination.

If Cruz can win a large share of the Midwestern state's 57 delegates, it will boost the chances that Trump will not be able to amass the 1,237-delegate majority he needs to clinch the nomination on the convention's first ballot. If he does not hit that number, Cruz, Kasich or a dark-horse establishment candidate could win the nomination on a second or subsequent ballot.

The choice of Fiorina, a former Hewlett-Packard Co chief executive, could help Cruz with women voters, a group the pugnacious Trump has had difficulty winning over to his outsider campaign.

Trump criticized Fiorina earlier on Wednesday as a potential Cruz vice presidential pick. "I think it would be a bad choice," he said, "not because she's a woman but because she did not resonate at all with people."

"It's too early to do it," Trump said. "And frankly, he's wasting his time because he's not going to be the nominee."

This is actually a plus for Trump. He can go after both Cruz/Fiorin and Clinton on the "woman's card". Trump is being criticized for that statement in his victory announcement the other night, but once he explains what he was talking about, it will be a plus. We don't want a female leader because they're female, when we have high level female leaders, we want them when they are right for the job and have the right policies. Neither Fiorina nor Clinton have the right policies or track records to create jobs, to stop illegal immigration, fix our bad trade deals or return our nation to a strong, safe but non-interventionist nation like we used to be so we can avoid involvement in these pointless and reckless foreign wars that don't serve our interest.

So enjoy your few remaining days in the sun, Fiorina. When voters reject you as candidate for President by the massive margins you had, voters will not accept you as Number 2 on a candidate for a nomination "team" for the simple reason that you might become Number 1. And I suppose it goes without saying that when your "team" is the guy who can't win the nomination to begin with because he's losing with voters, but well there it is, I said it anyway.

And of course you're a liar, you lied about fake videos, you lied about Planned Parenthood, you've lied about your family, you've lied about so many things, I can't keep up with them and that was when I was paying attention.

But Lyin' Ted and Lyin' Carly .... that's a match made in Heaven for the Losers Bin.

Oh yeah, another thing, (it'll be fun raising Carly from the dead), remember that Carly Fiorina while head of HP sold printers to Iran when the US wasn't supposed to be selling anything to Iran except food and survival stuff because of SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN. She got around the sanctions by ... yes you got it .... selling the HP printers through a foreign subsidiary. Someone really should look into that, because I believe that is a "loophole" that doesn't really exist and she may well be on the criminals list with Hillary.

Cruz claims that "Donald" doesn't understand foreign policy especially with Iran because "Donald" doesn't understand the Ayatollah Khomeini, while he, Ted Cruz, does understand the Ayatollah Khomeini.

Well, I don't know how important t is to "understand the Ayatollah Khomeini, but I do know how important it is to understand trade sanctions as a means to preventing the development of nuclear weapons. It's difficult to design nuclear weapons without printers.

I wonder how voters will feel about Carly helping Iran out with printers to design nuclear weapons and a host of other bad things, including printing out their propaganda and other bad things?

Another thing which Cruz's speech just repeated, Carly lied about her career misleading everyone to believe that she started her career working as a secretary and moved her way up through the corporate ladder. This isn't true on any level.

She worked as a receptionist or secretary as a real state office during the summer while she was going to college. She has 2 degrees her first husband paid for. After that, then she applied for a job with AT&T and entered that company at a very high level because at the time corporations were under pressure to hire more women and do so in ways that would elevate them quickly. That's where she met her second husband who was in an even higher level of management at the time and off she went and then eventually becoming CEO of Hewlett-Packard and her husband left ATT to support her and raise his two kids by another marriage.

When people read that you worked your way up from secretary to CEO, they believe and rightly so that you started your job with the company as a secretary or in the typing pool and from there worked you way up. No one believes that every college student in the United States worked their way up from part-time jobs while you're in college as the same thing.

This is the Lyin' Ted and Lyin' Carly team. What a road show, albeit a short one, it will be to RIP in the Losers Bin in California.

So I hope all the women who actually did work their way up through corporations starting at lower level positions and working very hard to show these companies their talent and potentials who did achieve promotions and trail-blaze the road for women in Corporate America remember that Fiorina is not one of you, she's one of the ones who flew in on your coat-tails and basically started at the top because you proved the hard, long way that women are as capable and can do many things we had previously been denied the opportunity to do.

Oh God, here's Ted lying about Carly "struggling" through the work place. This woman didn't struggle at all. She destroyed a company and walked away with a fortune in parachute pay.
