WATCH – New Ad Urges Trump: Don’t Become Lindsey Graham on Immigration, Keep ‘America First’ Commitment

    6 Feb 2018

A new ad running in South Carolina and Washington, DC urges President Trump not to take up Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) position on immigration, which includes supporting amnesty without significant reductions to legal immigration levels.

The TV ad, expected to run for several weeks, is paid for by “Californians for Population Stabilization,” a pro-American immigration organization seeking to lower the current levels of mass immigration to the United States.

“Who did America elect President, Donald Trump or Lindsey Graham?” a narrator on the ad asks viewers, referring specifically to Trump’s immigration plan that seeks to give amnesty to illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for the President Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, without immediately reducing legal immigration levels to raise the wages of American workers.

“Graham wants to expand amnesty beyond DACAs to millions more here illegally, now so does Trump,” the ad states in a reference to the White House’s plan that would give amnesty to at least 1.8 million eligible illegal aliens.

“Graham wants to minimize cuts to chain migration, now Trump wants to put off real cuts for over 10 years,” the ad states, noting that the White House plan does not immediately end the process known as “chain migration,” where newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S. with them.

As Breitbart News reported, the White House plan would allow for the estimated 4 million foreign nationals in the chain migration backlog to continue arriving in the U.S., a process that could take between 10 to 17 years before Americans see economic and quality of life relief from lowered legal immigration levels.

“What happened to the president that promised to put Americans first?” the ad asks. “Tweet Donald Trump and ask him. Tell him that if America wanted Graham’s immigration plan, we would have elected him president.”

Graham’s positions on immigration remain outside the mainstream for American voters, who by a plurality want to see less immigration to the U.S., not more.

As Breitbart News reported, polling by Harvard-Harris reveals that nearly 80 percent American voters want Trump’s original plan for merit-based legal immigration, where about 500,000 legal immigrants are admitted a year based on their skills and English proficiency. The current legal immigration system admits more than one million legal immigrants a year, with the vast majority of legal immigrants arriving in the U.S. only to reunify with foreign relatives.

A total of 85 percent of black Americans said they supported a merit-based immigration system, rather than the current flow of chain migration. Another 72 percent of Democrat, former voters for Hillary Clinton agreed that the legal immigration system should be based on skills, not family ties.

Every year the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million foreign nationals, with the vast majority deriving from family-based chain migration, whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S. In 2016, the legal and illegal immigrant population reached a record high of 44 million. By 2023, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the legal and illegal immigrant population of the U.S. will make up nearly 15 percent of the entire U.S. population.

Mass legal immigration to the U.S., like Koch brothers-supported free trade agreements, has come at the expense of America’s working and middle class, which has suffered from poor job growth, stagnant wages, and increased public costs to offset the importation of millions of low-skilled foreign nationals.

Mr. President, there is probably few other people in America who support your Presidency as much as I do for as many reasons as I do. But you are barking up the wrong tree here with this amnesty bullshit for these horrible DACAs. These are not kids, they are not "incredible", they are not our problem, and they are not our responsibility. They all need to be deported along with the parents they claim brought them here and all their offspring they've spawned. I know you want the wall and to make some progress on this issue, but amnesty for DACAs isn't the way to do it. The way to do it is be patient, fix everything else you can, and win as many new Republican Senate seats as possible in 2018, then come back to the issue of stopping illegal immigration in 2019 with a real majority in the US Senate when you can control the budget and funding for the needed programs and pass the necessary legislation to end this problem once and for all.
