This Issue: Border Patrol and ICE Unions Publicly Denounce President's Amnesty as Order to Break Their Oath

The union heads for both the Border Patrol and ICE are boldly charging the Obama Administration with ordering their agents to break their law enforcement oaths by helping carry out a unilateral executive policy to grant temporary amnesties and work permits to perhaps 1.4 million illegal aliens. The administration is threatening the agents with reprimand and even termination if they continue to enforce the immigration laws as passed by Congress, they indicated.

A month after Pres. Obama and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano announced their plans for deferred action and work permits to most illegal aliens under the age of 30, the conflict between the federal law enforcement personnel and their bosses boiled into full public view Thursday in a press conference on Capitol Hill.

View this short video for some of the remarkable comments by ICE Union President Chris Crane and Border Patrol Union President George McCubbin.

ICE is the Immigration and Customs Enforcement part of the Department of Homeland Security. ICE agents and the Border Patrol are the first line of defense in protecting our "homeland". Their job is to keep America safe and prevent millions of illegal aliens from pouring across our borders to compete for jobs with the most vulnerable Americans and to drive down wages.

The union heads of both law enforcement agents know a little something about protecting jobs - after all, it's the primary responsibility of a union to protect jobs and their workers. But, according to both union heads, the administration is telling their agents to stop enforcing the law.

During a press conference on Thursday, ICE Union President Chris Crane said:

It's impossible to understand the full scope of the Administration's policies, but what we've seen so far concerns us greatly. ... Our orders are if an alien says they went to high school, then let them go. If they say they have a GED, then let them go.

Border Patrol Union President George McCubbin said that the Department of Homeland Security has made it harder for agents to do their jobs.

The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has travelled around the country stating that the border is more secure than it's ever been. We do not believe that to be the case. She conveniently forgot to ask the men and women on the front line if that was true, but rather she relied on the information and statistics provided to her by those in positions who have an interest in reflecting whatever position the administration wants it to reflect. In this case a safe and secure border.

We've had the privilege of working with the Border Patrol and ICE unions for years, and we thank them for coming forward to talk about this detrimental policy. Like NumbersUSA, the unions are committed to stopping this policy in its tracks before millions of illegal aliens receive work permits at the expense of jobless Americans.

    Action
Earlier this week, we posted new faxes to Pres. Obama and DHS Sec. Janet Napolitano following last week's oversight hearing with the House Judiciary Committee. If you haven't sent those faxes, check your action board now.

Also, if your Representative serves on the House Judiciary Committee, you'll find a fax telling them to keep the pressure on DHS to provide more specific details on the executive amnesty.

Have you watched highlights of the House Judiciary Committee's oversight hearing with Janet Napolitano? If not, check out this clip.

From the clip, you'll see that Sec. Napolitano tried her best to avoid questions from Committee Members and made it evident that DHS still has a lot of work to do before implementing the policy.

Sen. Sessions hosted a press conference today with top officials from two unions that represent U.S. immigration law enforcement agencies.

ICE agent Chris Crane is President of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, the union representing America's more than 7,000 ICE agents and personnel. Border Patrol agent George McCubbin, III is President of the National Border Patrol Council, the union representing America's more than 17,000 border agents and personnel.

From Sen. Sessions' remarks (forthcoming in a video tomorrow):
"The Administration claims it has diligently enforced immigration law and that the border is 'more secure than ever.' But those on the front lines know this to be untrue. They see the violence, chaos and lawlessness. They have lost confidence in the leadership of their agencies...

As you will hear today, this administration has engaged in a sustained, relentless effort to undermine America's immigration laws. They have handcuffed and muffled those charged with protecting the public safety and the integrity of our borders. Such action has not only weakened our security but our democracy...

All Americans, immigrant and native born, will have a better future if our nation remains unique in the world for the special reverence it places in the rule of law and fairness in our immigration system."

I am in shock I cannot believe what I have just heard. If anyone who knows this and votes for Obama they are traitor to this country. There are large holes in what is called Homeland Security. Since when are criminals called dreamers? They are illegal immigrants and not dreamers. Why don't we let all the inmates in jail go because they have a GED or a high school diploma. Our jails already are full of illegal immigrants now. Illegal immigrants have already been getting away with murder by stealing the identity of American citizens mostly children and infants. I am third generation Greek, if things get worse maybe it is time for me to relearn my Greek and move to Greece even if the economy is bad. It is not exactly a picnic here. Just imagine how difficult it will be for Americans to get jobs now. It seems our government is fiddling while America burns. Greece is considered the cradle of democracy something we don't have in America because we are a Republic. Maybe that is where we went wrong.
