I think the need of black Americans to get jobs would be the key. After all, their employment needs won't all be solved by litigation or affirmative action. That's just my opinion...we will need all the help we can get. The Democratic Party is still the province of talking heads.

That seems to sound logical and especially the financial burden of way too many in poverty to be able to sustain......under any plan, without tossing law abiding citizens under the bus and dooming them to poverty.

The trouble is that Afro-Americans have been "sold out" in the name of political correctness (and, perhaps, economic gain) as much by their leadership as have Caucasian-Americans. The Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton appear in public regularly to link Hispanics (and so called "rights for immigrants") to the Afro-American Civil Rights movement, whether this is historically correct or not. They seem indifferent to the fact that it is the huge influx of this very labor force which has economically set the Black community back on its heels. Once again, the divide increasingly seems to be between the wealthy and everyone else, regardless of color. This is a main characteristic of a "third world" society.

I don't know about black Americans, Obama might just put a "reparations" tax on billionaires and give the proceeds to black Americans, then they won't care about jobs.

A couple of Congressional Democrats on radio this morning (including one of the Sanchez sisters) were asked about their priorities and what they want to do. They mentioned 1) health care and 2) the economy. This is not to say amnesty won't come up, and the OBL won't push hard for it, but there are other huge priorities that will take alot of energy & time.

A lot of the new billionaires are Democrats---and I want my share of reparations, too. I will find some reason. Got plenty of them.

Rahm Emanuel apparently has been offered the Chief of Staff position for Obama. Emanuel said in 2007 that comprehensive reform/amnesty would have to wait until the second term of a Dem presidential administration. I'm not sure if he's changed his view on this & we'll have to see if this happens as the OBL is anxious.

I keep sending OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT NEWS RELEASES on to my Congressman, that show the real situation on the border. We as US citizens have the right to be protected from criminals, and stopping them at the border is cheaper than letting them get into our local communities. These are available at :

If I could send them to the entire Congress I would. Perhaps some high level testimony from the heads of these departments will be critical if Amnesty rises as an issue. If these problems are not halted on the borders destruction within the US will be enormous, so input from local politicians and law enforcement would be essential. The US departments wil continue function in 2009.

Also even if the US government extends unemployment benefits they will eventually run out of funding. So employment will be a BIG issue.

Good points. One thing is for sure, if and when amnesty comes up, if we roll over & don't properly define the issue, and don't allow the voices of the majority of Americans to be heard that oppose amnesty (i.e., "comprehensive reform"), then amnesty will pass. But this is far from a done deal. Obama has alot on his plate, and does he want to tackle the contentious issue of amnesty right away??
