Would You Risk All For Freedom?
A historic video from 1988 is being shared on the Internet today featuring the story of four citizens of East Germany during the Cold War as they swim for their lives. The four citizens were almost immediately beset by border guards in a speedboat with guns as they were spotted fleeing from Communist oppression. The video is a stark look at the desperate means people will take to escape the evils of socialism.
During the 40 years of the East German regime, three million of the country’s 17 million left. 75,000 each year. Many hundreds were killed attempting to escape.
