    What can happen tomorrow...

Americans still don’t know lots of them have no idea what it means to have No Freedom.

I was born in Argentine. Part of my childhood and teenager days were lived in a Military Government, self standing after a crisis that needed a change. We all knew that, most of us were also happy about. Isabel Peron was destroying the country and we needed help. The Military took the decision to stand up and take the government, and none of us expected what happened after that. 11 years… long, dark, horrendous 11 years…

I will not tell all the Argentinean history of those odd times, but here you can read about if interested in the official word, not just mine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_R ... on_Process

I remember things that can get goose spots to more than one Liberal American, Socialist American, or how they call themselves now the ones that were good Democrats time ago.

We had not the right to neither talk about politics, the TV broadcasted over and over stuff like “The Argentineans are human and rightâ€

    Welcome Mrs.BigTex!!

And thank you for posting a first person account. Through friends, neighbors, and others who have lived through similar experiences in their lifetimes, I know that it can be very painful and difficult to talk about by those who have lived it.

Thank you for having the courage to try and warn others by talking about things I'm sure are very hard for you to discuss.

Welcome here and welcome to America MrsBigTex.

    You are making us better.

    Thanks a lot WorriedAmerican...
I sure hope the story will help to open those eyes that are giving all for granted, thinking that being "liberal" is being open-minded, progresist, cool... 'Humane"...
Freedom is a Gift, the right to help our own Nation is an honor, the right to speak your mind it can be priced, neither all that other rights the Fathers of this Country gave us to built what they dreamt as a great Nation.

If you can, pass this story around among your liberal friends -we all have some... - that maybe, just maybe will give them the chance to learn more about what they ignore, removing that romantic label to what it is dangerous and painful.

Thanks for your welcome to the Country, Country that I love and respect, Country that open the arms to welcome me as a Legal Immigrant, to wich as I wrote before, I sworn to protect. Thanks specially for your kind words about making this country a better place.
I came here to build, to give as I receive, and specially to ask what I can do for America, more than what America can do for me, because the American dream is that, not comming here to steal in the dark of the lack of papers what others are building with hard work and dreams planting a foreign flag everywhere and claiming at same time for rights; because the American dream is not being sitting to take as much as we can but is being shoulder to shoulder walking togehter in the good ones and the bad ones.

Thanks again, and God Bless America, this place that "I married" for love when I sworn the Oath of Allegiance.

Hello Azwreath... Thanks for your warm welcome!

I use to follow my husband's postings because as him, I'm very interested of our Country and what is going on. Anyway, at this point, I thought it would be maybe important to tell what a lot of American people ignore, what happens when your freedom is being taken, what can happen when signs like this we all are seeing are being ignored. My story, as many others is a little example of what it can happen.
It was hard to write about, start digging into personal memories to the point to feel again that physical pain that you can feel when the memories are too much to manage in a simple post, but as many others I survived and I will survive, and the scars all that left me made me stronger as must happen to a lot of naturalized Americans., not just Argentinean, but also from Chile, Uruguay, and many, many others.

I just hope this humble words help somehow to open at least some eyes, to extend some more hands in what is a genuine protection of the rights most are giving for granted.

As I told before to WorriedAmerican, feel free to chat about this with your socialist, liberal, old good democrats lost in the wave of being cool and progresists... Maybe this helps, maybe will drive them to research about what socialism do to their own, like happens in Russia, Cuba, China... I'm sometimes scratching my head thinking if they have some idea about how poor, miserable, dominated and brainwashed the people of those countries is... Same for liberals... How liberal is a country that needs to be controlled in everything like an idiotic child?

I'm open to discuss about this topic as much as required, because it is hard, yes, but necessary, and sometimes are things more important than the personal comfort.

Thanks again for your welcome, and excuse my passionate way to express my ideals.

Welcome Mrs.BigTex, thank you for sharing your story! Your story is also a warning to those of us who are sticking their head in the sand and refusing to acknowledge the obvious!

Welcome, Mr.BigTex. Your words will inspire people to open their eyes and see what can come to this country. I feel we are seeing the idea of such things happening here, and hopefully these Tea Parties will join people together to fight against government taking what we all hold dear . . . our freedoms.
RIP TinybobIdaho -- May God smile upon you in his domain forevermore.

Welcome, MrsBigTex! And thank you for your openess about Argentina. Americans just don't realize how bad things can get. My relative from Estonia dodged Russian bombs, and relating some of her experiences one day at a pottery class I was taking, one older woman agreed with me about how awful WWII was--Americans had to endure rationing of sugar and fuel! It wasn't running to bomb shelters, nor was it having nothing to eat and putting salt into hot water for soup. No food, and heaven forbid, our sugar supply was rationed. We seem to have been insulated from the reality of the rest of the world, except now, it seems the rest of the world is easily bringing reality here, something we better figure out how to deal with REAL QUICK.
