What do you think of immigration?

Hello, my name is David and I´m working on a small project. I´d like to set some questions.. so that I can have your opinion about immigration in the US. I'd appreciate if you answer as soon as possible ´cause I have a presentation today and I am only missing this part of the project... thanks.

1.- Should immigrants have the same rights that Americans have?
2.- According to a survey there is a higher rate of immigrants voting than americans. Why do you think this happen?

    Thanks a lot.

    1. Those who are here legally should be afforded the same protections under the law as any citizen. Only those who have legally become citizens should be allowed any benefits of whatever social safety nets we provide, or the right to vote.

2.Probably because many of them come from nations where they have no such Right. Many have lived under despotic govts and appreciate Rights and Liberty more than many who are born into it and take it for granted.

If there really is such a survey it's probably because they aren't familiar enough with our politicians.

    resident aliens

As it currently stands. If you are a resident alien, a green card holder, you have all the rights, privileges, and obligations of an American citizen.

What you are not entitled to under current LAW,

You cannot obtain employment in Federal capacity, can't be the postman.

You cannot vote in State or National elections(legally). There are places(Vermont being one) where you can vote at the municipal level, this is a granted right dependent on the town.

    You cannot hold public office.

    Flip side,

You are eligble for the draft should that occur.

You are subject to the same laws involving taxation of your earnings and assets.

You must abide all Constitutional, and relavant State, County, Municipal laws.

All Federal law enacted applies to you, that has been enacted, with regard to resident alien status. See the first restrictions on page top for some clarity if unsure. cheers glenn

Anything I left out, feel free to point out, everyone with the knowledge.

    Welcome Nikos.

We do afford illegal aliens the same rights as Americans. When they are arrested, they are provided legal counsel and all of the rules that apply to legal citizens apply to them. We treat them better than the nations they left behind treat illegals.

Illegal aliens are registering to vote and voting in America and there are new laws and initiatives addressing that problem. Illegal aliens are foreign nationals should not even be registered.

Legal immigrants probably do vote in higher percentages than existing citizens. Being an American citizen is something that people all around the world aspire too because of our system of Governance and the many benefits that Americans enjoy. Most importantly, people want to share in our freedom.

Legal immigrants have shown respect for our citizens and our laws. They value the things that make America a great nation such as our laws and voting rights. For many, it is a new and treasured experience voting in the US.

It is to bad that illegal aliens are flooding our nation and turning the mood of the public against all immigration which is why we must take action now to have our existing immigration laws enforced. If this rampant wave of illegal immigration continues there is going to be a huge backlash against all immigration.

    HUH?

In what capacity does he work for the postal service? I have point blank asked this question to Postal officials, when I considered it as a job. I was told what I wrote. Is he a subcontractor perhaps? If not, it must be a San Francisco, California thing. Laugh!

No seriously, if true, we are not going to change this problem, in my opinion.

When one resident alien works for the Postal service, and another is told that they cannot.

Stick a Fork in us. We're DONE! not so cheery, glenn
