Tymoshenko Promises to Deliver Ukraine to the Globalists

    Monday 24 February 2014

‘On Saturday, oligarch, embezzler, murder suspect and former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, released from a clinical hospital in the eastern industrial city of Kharkiv, told the Euromaidan revolutionaries in Kyviv’s Independence Square to stay the course.
“Do not leave Maidan as long as you have not obtained what you wanted,” she told the crowd. “Your fight for freedom will bring about democracy in other ex-Soviet republics.”
“This is a different Ukraine. This is a Ukraine of free people, and you have given this country to each and all of us, those who are living today and those who will live tomorrow. That is why people were on Maidan, who perished on Maidan will be heroes for ever,” she said.
As she traveled to Kyviv to embrace the revolution that claimed the lives of around 100 people and brought down the government of a corrupt Yanukovych and his confederates, Tymoshenko declared she is “sure that Ukraine will be a member of the European Union in the near future and this will change everything,” according to the Interfax news agency.’

Don't be fooled by her angelic looks, she's as ruthless as she's corrupt: A withering portrait of Ukraine's 'saviour' by Edward Lucas, a Russia expert who knows her well

Nobody who meets Yulia Tymoshenko forgets the moment. The billionaire Ukrainian politician’s charm is formidable. In a political landscape studded with novices and thugs, she stands out. Her angelic beauty and two-year detention in jail has attracted worldwide sympathy.
On Saturday, she was released following the overthrow of Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych in a dramatic coup.
Later that night, Tymoshenko, who has been suffering severe back pain, appeared in a wheelchair in Kiev’s Independence Square, where she made a passionate speech to the 50,000-strong crowd. She called them ‘heroes’ who had removed a ‘cancer’ from the country. She also indicated she would run for president in elections in May.
But the prospect of her political comeback makes me fear for the future of the increasingly unstable and volatile Ukraine. Mrs Tymoshenko’s immaculate blonde tresses and sometimes kittenish ways have led many macho politicians in the Ukraine — and abroad — to underestimate her. The truth is that her determination is terrifying. Nobody and nothing gets in her way.’

Russian spy ship docked in Havana

Havana (AFP) - A Russian warship was docked in Havana Wednesday, without explanation from Communist Cuba or its state media.

The Viktor Leonov CCB-175 boat, measuring 91.5 meters (300 feet) long and 14.5 meters wide, was docked at the port of Havana's cruise ship area, near the Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

The Vishnya, or Meridian-class intelligence ship, which has a crew of around 200, went into service in the Black Sea in 1988 before it was transferred seven years later to the northern fleet, Russian media sources said.

Neither Cuban authorities nor state media have mentioned the ship's visit, unlike on previous tours by Russian warships.

The former Soviet Union was Cuba's sponsor state through three decades of Cold War. After a period of some distancing under former Russian president Boris Yeltsin, the countries renewed their political, economic and military cooperation.

The ship is reportedly armed with 30mm guns and anti-aircraft missiles.

Its visit comes as isolated Havana's current economic and political patron, Venezuela, is facing unprecedented violent protests against President Nicolas Maduro's government.

Cuban President Raul Castro's Communist government is the Americas' only one-party regime.

Russia Puts Fighter Jets on Combat Alert as Tensions Mount

Moscow announces massive expansion of global military presence

Russian fighter jets along the country’s western border have been put on combat alert as tensions mount over fears that Moscow is preparing to intervene militarily to protect its interests in Ukraine.

Image: Russian Fighter Jet (Wikimedia Commons).

“Constant air patrols are being carried out by fighter jets in the border regions,” Interfax quoted a ministry statement as saying. “From the moment they received the signal to be on high alert, the air force in the western military region left for the … air bases.”
The news arrives just a day after the United States warned Russia it would be a “grave mistake” to conduct any kind of military intervention in Ukraine following Moscow’s announcement yesterday that a snap drill involving 150,000 troops would take place in western Russia.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s interim government has also warned Russia against making military movements in Crimea after armed men seized control of government and parliament buildings in the region. Earlier this week, pro-Russia citizens installed a Russian Mayor in the town of Sevastopol as part of a growing backlash against the western-backed coup.
Moscow has also announced that it plans a massive expansion of its global military presence with a number of new bases in countries including Vietnam, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, the Seychelles, and Singapore. The move is significant because Russia only currently has one naval base outside the former Soviet Union – in Tartus, Syria.
Some are also speculating that the deployment of the USS George H W Bush (CVN 77) aircraft carrier to European waters is linked to the crisis, although such maneuvers were planned months in advance.
The United States is already moving to secure a financial stake in Ukraine following the overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych, saying it plans to offer $1 billion in loan guarantees, ensuring the country becomes a debt slave to the Anglo-American establishment and thereby further reducing Russian influence.
Yanukovych himself asserted today that he is still Ukraine’s legitimate president while complaining of “rampant extremism on the streets of our country.” Russia is likely to provide personal protection for Yanukovych once he leaves Ukraine.

Russia Responds To US Warning: Expands Military Presence Globally

    • *KERRY: RUSSIA MILITARY MOVE ON UKRAINE WOULD BE GRAVE MISTAKE

RiaNovosti reports defense minister Sergei Shoigu saying Russia plans “to expand permanent military presence outside its borders by placing military bases in a number of foreign countries,” including Vietnam, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, the Seychelles, and Singapore. “The talks are under way, and we are close to signing the relevant documents,” Shoigu told reporters in Moscow.
    Via RiaNovosti,

Russia is planning to expand its permanent military presence outside its borders by placing military bases in a number of foreign countries, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday.

Shoigu said the list includes Vietnam, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, the Seychelles, Singapore and several other countries.
The talks are under way, and we are close to signing the relevant documents,” Shoigu told reporters in Moscow.
The minister added that the negotiations cover not only military bases but also visits to ports in such countries on favorable conditions as well as the opening of refueling sites for Russian strategic bombers on patrol.
Moscow currently has only one naval base outside the former Soviet Union – in Tartus, Syria, but the fate of this naval facility is uncertain because of the ongoing civil war in that country.
Post-Soviet Russia closed a large naval base in Vietnam and a radar base in Cuba in 2002 due to financial constraints.
However, Russia has started reviving its navy and strategic aviation since mid-2000s, seeing them as a tool to project the Russian image abroad and to protect its national interests around the globe.
Now, Moscow needs to place such military assets in strategically important regions of the world to make them work effectively toward the goal of expanding Russia’s global influence.

Ukraine warns Moscow against Russian military movements in Crimea

    Reuters
    February 27, 2014

Ukraine said on Thursday it would regard any movements by Russian military in Crimea outside the Russian Black Sea fleet’s base in Sevastopol as an act of aggression.

    Image: Russian Tank (Wikimedia Commons).

Acting President Oleksander Turchinov issued the warning in the national parliament after armed men seized the regional government and parliament buildings in Crimea, where some ethnic Russians want the region to join the Russian Federation.
Turchinov, who is also the head of Ukraine’s armed forces, appealed for Moscow to adhere to the rules of an agreement which allows Russia’s Black Sea fleet to be based in Sevastopol until 2042.
“I am appealing to the military leadership of the Russian Black Sea fleet … Any military movements, the more so if they are with weapons, beyond the boundaries of this territory (the base) will be seen by us as military aggression,” he declared.

Obama could pull Russia trip amid Ukraine tumult

Delivering a blunt warning to Moscow, President Barack Obama expressed deep concern Friday over reported military activity inside Ukraine by Russia and warned "there will be costs" for any intervention.

He did not say what those costs might be.
