Job Description

As an Internment/Resettlement Specialist for the Army National Guard, you will ensure the smooth running of military confinement/correctional facility or detention/internment facility, similar to those duties conducted by civilian Corrections Officers. This will require you to know proper procedures and military law; and have the ability to think quickly in high-stress situations. Specific duties may include assisting with supervision and management operations; providing facility security; providing custody, control, supervision, and escort; and counseling individual prisoners in rehabilitative programs.

Job training for an Internment/Resettlement Specialist requires approximately 19 weeks of One Station Unit Training, which includes Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training. Part of the training is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Some of the skills you'll learn include military laws and jurisdictions; level of force procedures; unarmed self-defense techniques; police ethics procedures; interpersonal communications skills; close confinement operations; search and restraint procedures; use of firearms; custody and control procedures.

This smells a little bit. Going to the Army National Guard site at http://www.army.com/enlist/guard-jobs.html I found nothing mentioning any sort of these type of job opportunities. Going to the monster.com site, they are asking for combat engineers, firefighters and food service specialists.
Tread carefully espousing this and who the crap is ihispano.com? Another wing of LaRaza or MALDEF?

Hmmm, kind of smelly, isn't it?

I don't see this as a big deal. magazine advertisement is a media outlet used frequently by all branches of the military for recruiting. Perhaps they are concentrating their search for Spanish speaking corrections officers because they have a shortage of Spanish speakers in that specialty field. If that's the case, why not advertise in a Hispanic magazine?

Honestly, I'm not smelling anything unusual, unethical, or unpatriotic here. :wink:

Description

•Supervising and establishing all administrative, logistical and food support operations, confinement/correctional, custodial, treatment, and rehabilitative activities

•Conducting stand-alone operations, providing command and control, staff planning, administration and logistical services, and custody/control for the operation of an Enemy Prisoner of War/Civilian Internee (EPW/CI) camp, detainee internment facility

•Conducting stand-alone operations, providing command and control, staff planning, administration and logistical services, and custody/control for the operation of a displaced civilian (DC) resettlement facility
