Is This Why There Were So Many Young Faces At CPAC?

Throughout our coverage of the Conservative Political Action Conference last week, we were pleased to report that youth involvement in the conservative cause is increasing more than it has in decades. Most of the 20-somethings in attendance at CPAC had a clear message when asked why they’ve decided to get involved: The future looks bad.

Well, if you don’t want to take the younger generation’s word that the outlook is bleak for the under-30 crowd, here are some numbers to prove what liberal government policies have done to the demographic.

Via a CNS News analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers out today (emphasis in bold):

The labor force participation rate in 2013 for Americans in their twenties hit the lowest level recorded since 1981, when the Bureau of Labor Statistics started releasing employment data on people in the full age bracket of 20 through 29.

The labor force participation rate for people ages 20 through 24—which BLS has been tracking since 1948—hit a 42-year low in 2013.

Since 2008, the last year before President Barack Obama took office, the number of Americans in their twenties who were not in the labor force during the average month has climbed from 8,756,000 to 10,511,000—an increase of 1,755,000 or 20 percent.

The 10,511,000 Americans age 20 through 29 who were not in the labor force in 2013 is the highest ever recorded by BLS.

AirborneSapper7 is absolutely correct, although I don't think those who visit this blog regularly need convincing. We need to speared this message everywhere, especially to those blogs that are apolitical. Unfortunately we also must sell this message to many conservatives who ought to be on our side. Even the so called "conservative" hard liners like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are ambiguous on the issue of amnesty.

ILLEGAL ALIENS MUST GO HOME. That statement cuts through all of the happy talk of a "good amnesty." The politicians want to have it both ways; they want to be seen as against amnesty and yet pander to the mega rich who want amnesty (a.k.a. legal status). We can cut through all the rhetorical games if we demand they say the forbidden words: "ILLEGAL ALIENS GO HOME -- PERIOD." Opposition to amnesty must be the test to separate real conservatives from pseudo conservatives. Because amnesty would destroy the conservative movement and America, you can not be a freedom fighter and for amnesty -- period. We have got to drive that message until every honest patriot agrees with us.
