    Amazon.com favors Spanish speaking buyers

A few months back I was looking for a book on Amazon.com. The search turned up lots of titles in various languages. While I've always enjoyed learning different languages, I am only fluent in English and wanted to narrow down the search to titles in English only. I thought for sure the advanced search option allow me to do this, but was extremely disappointed to find that Amazon.com has only two language options on their advanced search on their USA website, "all languages" or "Spanish."

I've since sent Amazon.com a few emails which clearly point out this unfair bias against and insult to Amazon.com's majority of customers who are fluent in English and not Spanish. But as of today there has been no change. While this topic is not as serious as today's news of the plot to attack one of our military bases, involving Al Queda and Mexican drug cartels, it's something to keep in mind when shopping for books during the holiday season that's so important to businesses.

What a crock! Why not "all languages" or "English"? Was Amazon founded with Spanish funders? You can count me out on ever ordering from them again unless they change their categories. Now I'll think of them as "amazing.com" - amazing that only Spanish-speakers are catered to. I learned Spanish for myself so I could reach out to so many others on this planet - now I hate even hearing it, unfortunately.

Although I have known Spanish since age eight and Portuguese since age 20, I FIRMLY believe that AMERICAN companies are OBLIGATED to advertise in ENGLISH FIRST! And thank you SO much for this latest tidbit on Amazon.com, rest assured they have just LOST ANOTHER customer--ME!

    they fixed it!

Finally, there are other language choices besides Spanish. English is now an option in their advanced search, and they also added in French and German. I'm glad they finally made the change but disappointed they took so long. I know from working on websites that it's a very simple fix.

On the main page, use the regular search for a title or author in the "books" category, then when you're on the new page with the search results you can click on the "advanced search" at the top of the page on the left side.

****They've finally gotten it fixed to add English.

No! I will not accept that Amazon! This is an ENGLISH ONLY country. It is unacceptable to put up Spanish, French, and German on there along with English. Lets boycott Amazon!! Who's with me.
