Sorry if this has been posted before but the Wall Street Journal reported this AM that North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis is floating, promoting (yet) another version of "comprehensive immigration reform" amnesty. The story is behind a pay wall so unable to post it all:

Tillis Pursues Bipartisan Immigration Reforms

During his first two years in the U.S. Senate, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) has established himself as a leading voice for bipartisan immigration reforms and a staunch defender of North Carolina small businesses that depend on seasonal workers to survive and support American jobs.

Tillis has called for pragmatic, bipartisan immigration reform that secures the border and addresses the undocumented population.

While Senator Tillis opposes amnesty, he believes both parties can work together in order to secure the border, address the status of the undocumented population, and support commonsense reforms to the nation’s legal immigration system that would support American businesses and jobs. Senator Tillis has recently said that the incoming Trump administration should consider a “soft landing” for undocumented minors, and he has stated his intent to continue working with his Democratic and Republican colleagues on immigration issues.

“In the Senate, he pointed to immigration reform as an issue he would push his party to be strategic about. Shy of ‘amnesty,’ he said he’s open to proposals from either party for what to do with the millions of people living in the country illegally.” (National Journal, 12/12/16)

“‘I think the administration should seriously look at a soft landing for them [undocumented minors], I really do,’ said Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), a member of the Judiciary Committee. ‘We’re not talking about amnesty. We’re not talking about granting citizenship. But they represent a class of people that I think are very different....The root cause of this illegal immigration was not the conscious action of the individuals we’re talking about,’ Tillis said. ‘That’s why I think we could look at this and maybe identify a broader base of people who may be willing to support it.’” (Politico, 12/9/16)

Tillis has also been an advocate for legal immigration that supports North Carolina businesses and jobs.

In spite of the criticism he has received from the right, Senator Tillis has been working across the aisle to reform the H-2B visa program, which is vital to small and seasonal employers across North Carolina who depend on temporary workers to sustain their businesses and supplement their existing American workforce.

Senator Tillis partnered with Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) to introduce the Save Our Small and Seasonal Business Act of 2015, and the senators secured key reforms to the H-2B visa program that were included in the FY2016 omnibus.

“As a Republican, Tillis is keenly aware of the negative feelings conservative voters associate with foreign worker visas and immigration generally. ‘There’s some general opposition to the notion that what we’re doing will cost American jobs,’ he said. “But in an interview, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), who’s worked with Mikulski to overhaul the program, said senators are already in discussions about the H-2B provisions for this year’s spending bills. (Mikulski and Tillis have a shared interest in protecting their states’ seafood industries; the two have developed a close enough working relationship that Mikulski calls Tillis ‘Catfish.’) ‘We’re looking at it because every year, it’s Band-Aid after Band-Aid,’ Tillis said. ‘And then every season, we’re already hearing problems from the last one.’” (Politico, 5/3/16)

“In the specific case of immigration reform, of which the senator is committed to pursuing efforts to help producers secure a skilled legal workforce, he serves on the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, who has jurisdiction over matters relating to human rights and immigration law. While immigration reform has been a frustrating issue for the fresh produce industry, there are real efforts underway in Congress to show bi-partisan support for reforms to the current H-2A program, efforts in which Tillis is on the forefront.” (United Fresh Produce Association, 8/18/16)

GOP Senator’s ‘Immigration Overhaul’ Would Include Amnesty

A new immigration reform plan by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) would include legalization and amnesty for the over 11 million living in the United States.
Tillis’ “immigration overhaul,” as The Wall Street Journal dubbed it, would serve as a new kind of “Gang of Eight” legislation, promising amnesty to illegal immigrants, which could eventually lead to a pathway to citizenship.


While Tillis’ legislation would increase “border security and toughen enforcement of immigration laws,” it would also grant amnesty, a type of immigration reform measure that Democrats have been demanding since the 1990s.


As the WSJ notes, Tillis’ amnesty bill “gives each party something that it wants,” reiterating that pairing amnesty will tougher border security could be the establishment GOP’s path towards passing comprehensive immigration reform.


Tillis’ legislation would essentially keep former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) intact, allowing illegal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. at a young age to stay in the country legally.


“At a later stage,” lawmakers would tackle the issue of visa overstays and addressing foreign worker visas for high and low-skilled labor.


“The left will say it doesn’t go far enough toward open borders and then the other end of the spectrum, which is: ‘We won’t be satisfied until you collect everyone and send them home,’ which is just not practical nor, do I believe, in the best interests of the U.S.,” Tillis told the Journal.


Immigration experts like Mark Krikorian with the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) have taken to social media to call out Tillis’ legislation as just another Sen. John McCain-style “Gang of Eight” amnesty bill.


The “Gang of Eight” legislation was shut down after backlash from immigration groups, voters and pushback from Senators like Trump’s pick for Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, who argued that illegal immigrants should be deported for their law-breaking, rather than being granted legalization to stay.

We've got Trump now, we don't need to barter border security for amnesty. Been there, done that, in 1986 and didn't solve one problem for even 1 day. NO WAY JOSE!!

Now that we've got Trump, we have:

1. enforcement of US immigration law
2. deportations of illegal aliens
3. border security
4. the wall
5. removal of all incentives
6. everything we need, thank you

Trump will end illegal immigration into the United States once and for all.

Donald Trump did not win to push forward ideas like this. Thom Tillis, how poorly you serve the American people, the citizens. You are wanting to represent foreign citizens against us. Is it - Donors, special interests, blackmail, something else.

Drug money. There's no other explanation for a US Senator in North Carolina to support amnesty, work permits, legalization or anything akin to it by any name or ruse. We have counties almost double digit unemployment. Almost all of our counties have double digit U6 unemployment. We have most counties with poverty rates far above the national average. We have millions of people in our state who don't even bother looking for work because it's been so long since there was any news of a job available. We have high disability claims and SSI usage because there are no jobs. So how can US Senator from North Carolina DARE to propose such anti-American, anti-US Worker, anti-US Taxpayer shamnesty bill? There's only one explanation.

STOP REWARDING.....START DEPORTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
