Your Views: Author takes exception to H-1B attack on Nehlen

Mike Hanus’ attack on 1st Congressional District candidate Paul Nehlen (letter, June 1) is so bizarre that I must respond. Nehlen has come out strongly against the H-1B visa program that is routinely used to replace Americans with lower-paid foreign workers. Thus, he offers the voters a clear choice with House Speaker Paul Ryan, who is an enthusiastic supporter of more foreign labor.

For this, Hanus calls Nehlen a hypocrite because the company that acquired the one Nehlen works for and Nehlen’s former employer have made Labor Condition Applications.

Under that Looney Tunes logic, the Americans who were replaced by H-1B workers at Abbott Labs and Disney and have spoken out are hypocrites, as well. They, too, worked for companies that hired H-1B workers.

It is virtually impossible not to work for a large company that has not applied for H-1B visas.

The fact of the matter is that Nehlen has unequivocally opposed replacing Americans with foreign workers. Ryan has not.

Why would anyone blame Nehlen for what an employer did? That's strange. Thank you John Miano for your letter to the editor to clear that up!
