In these depression-era, hard money times, $5,000 will make some deputies on the border turn bad quicker than you can say 'Si Senor!" Those that are bad will lay low for awhile in the border states for a few weeks until the heat cools off, then back to the dope hauling. Not the first time, and won't be the last. At least the deputy was not an illegal alien from Mexico impersonating a U.S. citizen and doing this, like we have seen several times in the past within the Border Patrol itself.
