Woman killed, man charged in Bishop Ford crash

An Indiana woman is dead after a crash on the Bishop Ford Freeway near Glenwood.

The driver, Francisco Reynoso, 28, was treated for minor injuries and is being held without bail by state police. Reynoso was cited for driving without insurance, driving without a license and improper lane usage.

A Plymouth Voyager minivan was northbound on the Bishop Ford near Glenwood-Lansing Road about 9:40 a.m. Sunday when it went out of control, Illinois State Police District Trooper Ivan Bukaczyk said.

Witnesses told police the minivan was in the far right lane when it abruptly went to the left, then back to the right, eventually losing control and spinning 180 degrees, Bukaczyk said. The vehicle then struck a tree.

It is not known what caused Reynoso to lose control, but the impact killed the passenger, Bukaczyk said.

Claudia Loevano, 30, of Hammond, was pronounced dead on the scene, the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

Reynoso may be turned in to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Bukaczyk said.

State police continue to investigate the crash.
