Anti-illegal immigration group wants San Diego highway sign

Anti-illegal immigration group wants San Diego highway sign

Article Launched: 05/09/2008 01:32:45 PM PDT

SAN DIEGO—Lawyers for an anti-illegal immigration group say California officials bowed to political pressure when they revoked the group's Adopt-a-Highway stretch near a Border Patrol checkpoint.
Attorneys for the San Diego Minutemen told a federal judge Friday that their Adopt-a-Highway sign should be put back on Interstate 5 in San Clemente, north of San Diego. The California Department of Transpiration ordered its removal in January.

Lawyers for the state said authorities felt the sign posed a safety risk because it could attract vandals and demonstrators.

Then bust them.....if they vandalize it or their demonstration gets out of hand. Make them responsible for their own actions......every other group gets their name on the sign and so should the MinuteMen!

    Freedom of speech?

I thought our Constitution defended free speech and signs are a form of speech, but the Constitution also requires the U.S. government to 'Protect the states from invasion and domestic violence..' 20 million illegal aliens is proof they are not doing what the Constitution requires.
This whole immigration issue is not a question about millions crossing our border in the largest invasion in human history the real question is:
Is the U. S. Constitution still valid?

The next most important question is,
Why won't the U.S. government obey it much less enforce it?

If We the People don't stop the destruction of our Constitution our children will rightfully hate U.S. forever for allowing the beacon of hope of the U.S. to flicker out.

A word of warning to the media, you defend ignoring the Constitution at your own peril, freedom of the press doesn't even show up in the Constitution only the Bill of Rights! Mexico is already trying to have opposition to illegal aliens declared a hate crime, once they shut U.S. Citizens up, you are NEXT!
Nonfeasance of office, the refusal to do that which should be done. Officials do not enforce the law, grounds for dismissal and prosecution for refusing to do what they were hired to do!

I've been seeing more accurate headlines lately using the correct terms for illegal aliens and even not forgetting to put the illegal in front of the words immigrant and immigration. Makes me happy to see that the truth triumphs!

I'd lost track of this story. Is this the sign? If so, it demonstrates how truly radical these folks are. This sign is standard and innocuous.

New Document Unravels Plot To Revoke San Diego Minutemen Adopt-A-Highway Permit

    http://www.immigrationwatchdog.com/?p=6464

The following is an excerpt from a letter that the Cal Trans Director, Will Kempton tried to keep from the SDMM legal team. The letter was signed by Gil Cedillo and Joe Coto on behalf of the Latino Caucus. This is just one piece of evidence that shows a pattern of discrimination against the SDMM.

We applaud you for understanding the sensitivity of this issue. Your commitment to immediately revoking this organization’s permit to adopt a highway and the removal of the sign in San Diego is the most prudent approach in avoiding any future violence and discrimination. The Latino Caucus will continue to insist that the history of discrimination and violence by the Minutemen is enough evidence to permanently ban this organization from ever participating in the Adopt-A-Highway Program.
The nerve of the lying racist Latino Caucus to claim that the San Diego Minutemen have a history of discrimination and violence. The SDMM is a muliti-ethnic group of American citizens. That fact is obvious if you attend their protests or rallies. The SDMM have never committed a violent act against anyone. Ever! However, they have documented 25 acts of violence against them. There have been several arrests and convictions.

Will Kempton, the Director of Caltrans, testified under oath, in a Mar. 20, 2008 deposition the following:

Atty: Q DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE (SDMM) ORGANIZATION PHILOSOPHY IS?

Kempton: A WE DID IN FACT GO THROUGH INFORMATION RELATIVE TO THE ORGANIZATION, AND I SAW NOTHING IN THE PHILOSOPHY, THE PHILOSOPHICAL STATEMENTS OF ANYTHING THAT I LOOKED AT THAT WOULD HAVE ADVOCATED THAT BEHAVIOR.

Q SEE ANYTHING THAT ADVOCATED RACISM?
    A NO.

    Q ANYTHING THAT ADVOCATED HATRED?
    A NO.

Q AND JUST TO CLOSE THE DOOR, ANYTHING THAT ADVOCATED VIOLENT BEHAVIOR?
    A NO.
The spineless Will Kempton revoked their permit simply because he was pressured to do so by the Latino Caucus. The Latino Caucus doesn’t like anyone to speak out against illegal immigration because most illegal aliens are Latino. Gil Cedillo, Joe Coto, and the Latino Caucus descriminates against American citizens that do not share their ethnicity. They are racists.

    Jeff Schwilk says:

If you can spare a few dollars, please contribute to our legal defense fund. Our attorneys have been working hard (with very little pay) on this case for over 3 months to ensure that free speech is preserved for all Americans, especially those who speak out for enforcement of our laws!! We are now seeing just how upsetting that message is to corrupt politicians and their friends in Government.

Thank You to all our members and associates who have contributed over the past 3 months! You have kept this case alive! We are confident we are going to win and it will be a landmark victory for the 1st Amendment!

A mere sign is a safety risk?

Just like other signs the only way that sign is a safety risk is if someone pulls it out of the ground and bangs someone over the head with it

If California wants to cite safety risks lets discuss sanctuary cities.

More political correctness by spineless people.

The SDMM just want to help clean up a portion of our highway, as in donate their time and effort to help improve the community.

    Infuriating!
