I would get just a bit tougher than Dman...they would not doubt my seriousness for one millisecond.

IMMIGRATION MATTERS -- Backlash Against the Backlash Grows

    NEW AMERICA MEDIA (Commentary)
    Commentary, Frank Sharry,
    Mar 23, 2006

Editor's Note: There are clear signs that immigrants and their supporters in the religious, state government, labor and business sectors are fighting back against xenophobia being fanned by hard-line opponents of comprehensive immigration reform, writes Frank Sharry, executive director of the National Immigration Forum.

Notice right from the starting gate how those opposing Amnesty and a Guest Worker program are painted out as evil villians in the Editor's note when we are referred to as being afflicted with xenophobia, and being guilty of fanning the passions of the HARD LINE OPPONENTS. Be interested in knowing Frank's background, understanding just what his personal interests are in being so supportive of these vile, rabid law breakers who are bent on destroying the fabric of American Society.

WASHINGTON, D.C.--If 2005 was the Year of the Minutemen, 2006 is becoming the Year of Immigrants Rising. Just look at the tens of thousands of immigrants who marched in downtown Chicago last March 11 for immigrant rights and against restrictive immigration proposals.

IMMIGRANT RIGHTS, against RESTRICTIVE immigration proposals...can this author be any more up front with his own prejudices, any more flagrant in his use of BUZZ WORDS to stear the reader?

Less than three months ago, the leadership of the House of Representatives, in a vicious act of "drive-by" legislating, rushed through a bill that experts consider to be the most anti-immigrant piece of legislation in the United States in 80 years.

Drive by, deliberately using a verbage that evokes a vision of gangs, thugs and shootings of innocent people...I am shocked any one would have given ink to such vile and viscious diatribe, am surprised more have not called the author on his deliberates attempts to inflame passions as he himself fans the fires of the pro criminal illegal alien camp. Lastly, who are these PERPORTED experts that have deemed this legislation the most anti-immigrant in eighty years. Even a cursory reader of the bill shows it is not anti-immigrant at all, but instead forcefully deals with illegal aliens who are breaking our laws to enter our nation illegally.

Here are some of the lowlights of the Sensenbrenner bill, HR 4437:

LOW LIGHTS...by who's interpretation...a group of thugs, thieves and law breakers who have broken laws in being here, who are guilty of tax invasion by working under the table? I am sure that most LAW ABIDING legal citizens of America do not find the bills components low lights, but instead applaud these representives efforts to stop the flood of illegal aliens trying to wreck our social infrastructure, bent on stealing away our way of life.

-- 11 million undocumented immigrants would be declared "aggravated felons" for having come to this country to do back-breaking work at low wages in order to feed their families.

Notice the description of these illegal aliens as undocumented immigrants in an attempt to humanize them, to evoke a certain level of empathy for their plight, then trying to juxtapose that warm snuggly image with the horrid action of representives labeling them as aggravated felons! Hello there, these people ARE CRIMINALS, not undocumented immigrants. They are here illegally, HAVE BROKEN OUR LAWS in being here, are breaking even more laws in working under the table and evading their responsibility to pay taxes. A certain, even perhaps major portion of this criminal element are guilty of far more sinister crimes including drug and human smuggling, rape and sodomy as well as murder and extortion, and ignoring this would be at our nation's own detriment. Let's call a spade a spade, these CRIMINALS are not deserving of the term undocumented immigrants.

-- Priests, nuns, health care workers and other helpers would be threatened with jail time for assisting the undocumented.

As with most criminal activity, those who lend help to criminals are guilty of aiding and abetting a FELON. If certain misquided elements of our society who are suffering from perhaps some undiagnosed afflictions are aiding and abetting criminals, then they need to be held accountable in a court of law and punished appropriately. Anarchy cannot be allowed to become the rule of the day, various assorted misfits within the larger whole of American Society cannot be allowed to decide which rules of law they do or do not choose to live under, and if the Catholic Church and it's followers of their own free will choose to make their bed with the criminal illegal aliens, then they have to be willing to pay the costs associated with being law breakers and criminals themselves.

-- Local police would have to enforce federal immigration laws, undermining community policing strategies meant to build confidence between police and immigrant communities.

Immigrant should read ILLEGAL ALIEN, and why should local police be building a strong intimate relationship with CRIMINALS? Sure, our society sometimes used informants to get information that would help convict criminals, and I am of course supportive of my own local police developing contacts within the illegal alien community that would help them in deporting those who are in America illegal, I support the legislation that eliminates safe havens all over America for criminal elements known by the name of illegal aliens.

-- Day labor sites would be shut down by federal law, overruling the hard work of activists and enlightened local communities attempting to solve problems caused in part by Congressional inaction on comprehensive immigration reform.

These ill concieved centers should be shut down...if you leave food out where bugs can find it, more coachroaches will follow in the tracks of the first one. You open up a day labor site or center, and it is only a matter of time until one or two illegal's looking for under the table jobs becomes ten, fifty, one hundred and more. I do on some level agree with the writers statement about Congressional inaction...laws stengthening our borders, and making those in our country illegally felons is LONG OVER DUE, and it is time our federal government does whatever is necessary to secure our borders, and deport those here illegally.

-- Seven hundred miles of walls would be built between the United States and our friendly neighbors to the south, an act that has touched off a diplomatic crisis with Latin America.

I find this part of the legislation a good start, but inadequate for the job. Most Americans favor a WALL, not a fence, and we want it built along all 2200 miles of our Southern border, not just 700 miles of it. Good fenses make good neighbors, and tough love at the business end of a gun gets the attention of criminals a lot faster than kid gloves and guest worker sites.

The self-righteous politicians who cooked up this bill were undoubtedly pleased with their handiwork. They wanted their colleagues to go back to their districts over the holidays with something to crow about on talk radio and at town hall meetings. The lucky were invited to the Lou Dobbs show.

The righer sounds jealous here, upset that the pro-criminal supporters and the thugs they represent were out flanked, that the right minded NO to Amnesty Americans won a battle in this ever esculating war on those illegal aliens bent on destroying our nation.

But politics is like physics: For every action there's a reaction. What looked so tempting last year is looking counterproductive this year. It seems the House anti-immigrant tantrum has angered and activated immigrants, their allies, religious leaders and local governments like never before. Here is are some recent events:

The author is right...for every reaction there is a reaction, and the criminal ilk known collectively as illegal aliens have pushed America's middle class to far ,and once to often, and we are beginning to react to your wrong minded actions and vapid radical public protests, as was witnessed yesterday with our STUNNING victory in Georgia.

-- On March 7, over 30,000 immigrants showed up on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., to protest the Sensenbrenner bill and to call for legalization. Families came from work and from up and down the East Coast to show their faces and raise their voices. Many carried simple homemade signs that said, "I am not a criminal."

Saying so does not make it so...if you are here illegally, then you ARE A CRIMINAL, and if the INS has any smarts at all, they would have their agents at the ready at these events. A few events were illegal aliens were rounded up and deported in mass ought to teach you that you do NOT FLAUNT YOUR CRIME.

-- Later that week Chicago was the scene of a rally that according to police drew at least 100,000 immigrants, and organizers claimed drew over 300,000. Both the Chicago and D.C. rallies were marked by unprecedented cooperation between the labor movement, immigrants rights advocacy organizations and community organizations led by immigrants.

Keep up the protesting...with every march you hold, the tide slowly is turning in our favor as Americans wake up to the sea of criminality washing across our fine land. With each march, more people join our cause, and public opinion is beginning to pay dividends as your criminal ilk loses at every turn as pointed out by your own article whining about the brilliant legislation that was passed by Congress this past December.

-- Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles recently announced that if the Sensenbrenner bill becomes law he will instruct his priests to defy it and provide services to the undocumented, even if it means going to jail.

We will be MORE THAN HAPPY to obliege Mahony by putting him in jail, convicting him of felony charges, and sendhing him to prison for 3-5 years. As I said, this is not and anarchy, and small groups within the larger whole do not get to pick and choose the laws they are willing to abide by. If the Catholic Church wants to embrace criminals, there is going to be a price to pay. In fact, if the IRS has any intelligence at all, it is already investigating the possiblity of revoking the tax exempt status of the entire Catholic Church here in America. Let the Pope in his Wizzard of Oz red prada's mule that one over for a few days.

-- City councils and county supervisors from Southern California to Ohio and Massachusetts are passing resolutions against the Sensenbrenner bill and calling for comprehensive reform that puts immigrants onto a path to citizenship.

Try stating facts, instead of fabricating lies. Most communities in America are sick and tired of the financial drain on their finances caused by this large influx of illegal scab criminals bent on stealing away our quality of life. If anything, most local communities in America are screaming for laws that would deport most of this low life criminal element.

-- Beyond Chicago, in Portland, Ore., 5,000 people protested HR 4437. Religious leaders are staging vigils in Ohio. Activists are demonstrating in the Michigan State House, and immigrants are pouring into Washington, D.C., to lobby for comprehensive reform along the lines of the McCain-Kennedy bill pending in the Senate. When Sen. John McCain traveled to Miami and New York to talk about immigration reform, 1,000 immigrants showed up in each city to cheer.

1000 CRIMINALS showed up t cheer McCain, and trust me...we will remember this if he EVEN TRIES TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT of the United States. We do not take kindly to politicians that sell their soul to the devil for 35 pieces of silver and a shot at the White House. --

Even the undocumented Irish from the New York and Boston are becoming active. Some 2,000 descended on Washington, D.C., this week. Wearing T-shirts emblazoned with green lettering that said "Legalize the Irish," they lobbied lawmakers to back the McCain-Kennedy bill with its earned legalization provisions.

For starters, lets be honest. There are less than 50,000 illegal Irish in this country. There nation has done a FINE JOB of building their economy and becoming a prosperous nation...Vicenti Fox should take a lesson from them. Their call was nothing more than a poorly orchestrated publicity ploy to bolster the failing positions of those in Washington willing to sell the middle class out in the name of Corporate bottom line profits...the problem is, it did not work. Illegal aliens are CRIMINALS regardless of what country they come from, and be you Irish or Latino, if you are here illegally, then you need to be dealt with harshly and then deported upon completion of your prison term.

-- The business community is also upset over the Sensenbrenner bill. Groups of employers are flying into Washington, DC and demanding meetings with their representatives. Their message: they need immigrant workers and want to see their work force legalized, not deported.

These selfish LOUTS want a cheap pool of labor, they want their cheap labor pool legalized because it depresses middle class wages by over 200 billion a year. It's the basic law of supply and demand...fewer workers mean higher wages, more workers mean cheaper wages...so of course these business leaders are going to whine and protest...THEY LOVE CHEAP SLAVE WAGES, and ILLEGAL CRIMINAL ILK ALIENS make those slave wages a reality.

Call it the backlash to the backlash. Some are even calling the passage of the Sensenbrenner bill the "Proposition 187 moment" of this decade, referring to 1994, when California Gov. Pete Wilson and the Republican Party won re-election by supporting the anti-immigrant ballot initiative Prop. 187. The measure and the ugly campaign for it so angered Latino and Asian immigrants that it led to a surge in citizenship and voting that threw the Republican Party out of virtually every statewide office for a decade.

Keep dreaming...trust me, if Washington gives illegal criminal aliens a pathway to citizenship you will witness true BACKLASH, and not just at the election box either. Americans may be slow to burn, but trust me...you do not want to see us angered....ask Hitler, ask the citizens of Hiroshima. Americans when pushed to far stand up in a big way to keep what is rightfully ours. We stayed out of World War II until they bombed Pearl Harbor, but once we left the sidelines the tide of war changed dramatically, and right now many Americans have sat on the sidelines taking it...the time of taking it is about to end, and God have mercy when we recoil and strike.

Obviously, some Republicans understand that supporting immigrants is good for the country and their party. Sen. McCain of Arizona, a leading contender for the 2008 Republican nomination for president, gets it. So do some of his possible rivals for the Republican nomination, Sens. Sam Brownback of Kansas and Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.

Leading contender...even Hilliary Clinton beats McCain in a head to head competition for the White House. If the Republicans grant Amnesty to these criminals, they can kiss the White House good bye for at least 20 years. Let the Republicans pass Amnesty for illegal criminals, and they can kiss both the House and Senate goodbye in the 2006 elections regardless of the supposed LATINO VOTING BLOCK.

But more typical of the current thinking in GOP leadership circles is Sen. Bill Frist of Tennessee. He's gearing up to usher a Sensenbrenner-like bill in the Senate, presumably to score points with the same rabid anti-immigrant crowd the House played to. He probably thinks it will help him in the GOP presidential primaries.

You show some ignorance here...additionally, you seem to want to bite the hand trying to feed you. Read his bill closely, and you will see it has a guest worker program, and calls for MASSIVE increases in work visa's at every level. We have his real number, and he ruined any chance he has at a run for president with his poorly played slight of hand.

Well, Pete Wilson thought his 1994 anti-immigrant platform would help his 1996 run for president. But his role in turning California from a purple state into a blue one and his reputation as a polarizing figure in immigrant communities made Wilson so radioactive no national politicians will be seen with him to this day.

Again, love your use of buss words....radioactive....what Marvel Comic strip did that one come from. Do you watch the national polls? 70 percent of Americans (LEGAL ONES) oppose Amnesty, oppose Guest Worker Programs, and support DEPORTATION. Politicians need to walk very carefully on this issue or pay a very heavy price.

Think about it. Over the past three decades, the GOP has systematically targeted employers, Catholics and Hispanics in order to forge a governing majority. Now, House Republican leaders are targeting employers, Catholics and Hispanics in order to appease talk radio hosts and the loud-but-not-large anti-immigrant zealots.

Trust me, the Republicans have had their hands in the pants of BIG BUSINESS forever...read all about Jack Abramoff. The Catholic Church is the one that needs to rethink this issue...have they already forgotten the gift horse of Roberts and Alito now sitting on the Supreme Court. Is that how they and the rabid religious show their thanks, but selling out America to support illegal criminal thugs rushing across our Southern Border in a flood of unwanted thieves, crooks and job stealers?

Here's a political prediction: over time, the Minuteman vote will pale in comparison to the political tsunami gathering strength in immigrant communities and among pro-immigrant constituencies across America.

Here's a idea for you to chew on...your thesis only works if we throw open our borders and fail to address the issue of illegal entry in a way that stops this group of criminals from making inroads into American Society. If Congress and the Senate follow the will of the people, our Southern border will be secured, there will be NO AMNESTY, no GUEST WORKER program, and a plan will be implemented to deport most of those here illegally. When that happens, despite all his rhetoric and chest pounding, doubtful Vincenti Fox would declare war on America, and if he did, the American victory of Mexico's pathetic military would be the most lopsided victory in the history of mankind...it would though be a benificial war for both America and Mexico. As victors we could change their ill concieved laws that thwart foreign ownership and investment. We'd come in, TAKE YOUR BEACHES, and convert Mexico into a beautiful holiday location for our citizens, while creating lots of good paying jobs for the citizens of Mexico.[/b]

LOL WavTek. MY Chihuahua has all his papers-- even the ones he tinkles on.

But I am trying to find a violin to put up as my avatar so I can play "My heart bleeds for you" for all these illegal aliens marching around whining.

As far as I'm concerned, that bill isn't harsh enough. If I had my way, it would be alot more harsher. If I written the bill, it would have mandated the immediate withdrawl of all troops from Iraq to be placed on both sides of our borders. I would use the National Guard to do daily work site raids until all greedy, corrupt employers get jailed and the illegals get deported. If the illegals rioted, I would send in the extra military who's not covering the border to clean house. Think the illegals would show up anymore if they knew we were that serious? I highly doubt it.
Dman, you're waaay too nice. You must be a compassionate conservative !!
