Bombs Explode near TV Station in Matamoros

MATAMOROS - Mexican officials reported two explosions just across the border from Brownsville Texas.

Officials said witnesses reported the bombs exploded at 11:30 p.m. Monday near the Televisa television studios.

No one was killed in the explosion. Authorities are assessing the number of people injured and damage caused by the explosion.

Military officials are trying to track down suspects in the attack.

Violence Erupts in Reynosa

REYNOSA - A wave of violence has gripped the border town of Reynosa.
There have been multiple reports of gun battles and street blockades today around town. Many of the gunfights have happened near the Plaza Periferico and Boulevard Hidalgo.

One Mexican media website reported this is the most recent clash between the military and cartel members. Miguel "El Gringo" Villarreal was killed during the battles, Mexican media said.

Villarreal is believed to be the former Gulf cartel plaza boss for Reynosa.
