    DUMMERSTON — A 36-year-old New York State man was handed over to Immigration and Naturalization Services Wednesday morning after a vehicle stop, according to the Vermont State Police.

    Celal Gedik of Lynbrook, N.Y., was issued a ticket for speeding and driving with an expired license. Police said he was detained as an illegal alien and transferred to the custody of federal officials.

    Gedik's car was stopped along Interstate 91 at 9:40 a.m. in Dummerston, police said.
