A Metairie man who worked for a home elevation and shoring company has pleaded guilty to a charge he engaged in a plot to employ illegal immigrants.
Twenty-nine-year-old Adolfo Hernandez faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine following his guilty plea Thursday to a conspiracy charge.
Hernandez worked as a crew manager, machinery operator and employee recruiter for Ponchatoula-based Louisiana Home Elevations. Federal prosecutors say he conspired with the company's owner, Christopher Benson, to shield illegal immigrants from detection by providing them employment. A trial for Benson is scheduled to start Aug. 20.
Hernandez' sentencing is set for Aug. 23.
