Homeland Security Investigations agents in the Rio Grande Valley today arrested a deputy U.S. marshal accused of selling out an undercover agent to his drug-trafficker father.

U.S. Marshal Lucio Osbaldo Moya, 29, of Rio Grande City was arrested on charges of accessory after the fact and obstruction of a proceeding, the U.S. attorney's office in Houston said in a news release.

In a criminal complaint, investigators accuse Moya of taking a photocopy of the undercover agent's driver's license to fellow U.S. marshals and, upon learning it belonged to an undercover investigator, sent a warning text to his father.

Moya's 51-year-old father, Juan Norberto Moya, is serving a 10-year prison term for marijuana trafficking.
