RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A member of a multistate document fraud ring has been sentenced to six years in federal prison on a racketeering conspiracy charge. Twenty-five-year-old Ivan Zarate-Curi of Nashville, Tenn., was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Richmond.

Prosecutors say Zarate-Curi was the leader of a Nashville cell of a Mexico-based enterprise that had operations in 11 states. The enterprise produced fake ID cards for illegal immigrants and protected its lucrative turf with threats, extortion and beatings.

Prosecutors say Zarate-Curi will be deported after serving his sentence.
