Over 400 Students Expected at Arpaio Protest

TEMPE, Ariz. - Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is once again the target of another protest.

Earlier in the week, more than 100 students unexpectedly took to the streets, blocking the road near 75th Avenue and Indian School during rush hour -- saying they were illegal and they're sick of living in fear.

Now another march is planned in downtown Phoenix Friday and more than 400 students are expected to show their disapproval for the Sheriff.

"He should know way more about the stress and what people have to go through to give their families a better life," said Sandra Castro Puente.

This is a joint effort by two national human rights groups.

They are protesting against the Sheriff, claiming he is unfairly targeting Hispanics in his fight against illegal immigration.

Puente says, "It's gonna be an educational march where we're gonna go site to site and explain to students the deportation process when they get snatched up by MCSO or Phoenix PD."

At Tuesday's protest, hundreds of students spoke out against Arpaio and said they're in the country illegally -- brought to the U.S. as babies. Six people were arrested, but Immigration Customs Enforcement decided not to deport them.

The march starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Civic Space Center. The students plan to make stops at the 4th Avenue Jail and Arpaio's office. The Sheriff says he wants to talk to them.

"Joe Arpaio has seen all this week students are no longer scared of him and the students will come and face Arpaio," said Puente.

Things sure are upside down when a person, such as Sheriff Arpaio, simply enforces laws but since our federal government does not he is the problem. And the current administration is encouraging such protests by their lack of enforcement. Our country looks foolish and weak by not enforcing laws and is encouraging those who break our laws. No one can use the saying 'coming out of the shadows' again, that's a joke!

Other than adding votes to his reelection, I somehow doubt these 400 quislings will have any effect on Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Students, others protest against Sheriff Joe Arpaio
    by KTAR Newsroom (March 23rd, 2012 @ 5:04pm)

PHOENIX -- Three days after students protested Sheriff Joe Arpaio's immigration enforcement policies, they -- and many others -- were at it again Friday.

A crowd of more than 600 gathered Friday near Central Avenue and Van Buren.

Police monitored the protest from the ground and in the air to make sure it stayed peaceful.

The protesters gathered at a park near Central Avenue and Fillmore Street and began marching toward a downtown building where Arpaio and his office leases space.

One of the protesters is a retired police officer.

"I'm protesting his incompetence, his failure to enforce laws, his incompetence in enforcing laws [and] his abuse of power as evidenced by the Department of Justice civil investigation," Dennis Howerton said.

Many of these people are students. Some being the same students that started the protest earlier in the week. At that one, outside of Trevor Brown High School, they shut down an intersection. Six people were arrested.

All six identified themselves as illegal immigrants but federal immigration authorities decided not to deport them.

There were no reported arrests on Friday.

    Their RACIST HATE!
Show THEIR LAWLESS SELF SERVING ENTITLED ILLEGAL OCCUPATION!

Demonstration reminds me of the kind they had during May 2006. That was when I found this website. Such demonstrations may help them feel cool, tough and now emboldened because of the Obama administration, however it does not help their cause with most of the general public.
