An illegal immigrant from Mexico found guilty in June of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse was sentenced today in Chemung County Court.

Israel Lopez-Aguilar received a determinate sentence of 25 years for the rape conviction and seven years for the sexual abuse charge. The sentences will be served concurrently and Lopez-Aguilar will be subject to five years of post-release supervision, county Public Defender Paul Corradini said.

While being housed in the Chemung County Jail, Lopez-Aguilar was written up by jail officials for masturbating in front of female correction officers. Chemung County Judge James Hayden said during sentencing today that those offenses clearly affected his decision to impose the maximum allowable sentence, saying those action demonstrated the disdain Lopez-Aquilar has for women.

Lopez-Aguilar raped a then-62-year-old Horseheads woman in her home in August 2005. He was living in the home with the woman and her son at the time of the incident. He then fled and was arrested three days later in the town of Chemung after a police manhunt.

Wow, one of those rare cases where a newspaper actually identified an immigrant as being illegal!

Ya.....it is a rare event. Depending on where you live, in order to be PC , alot won't go beyond male person. Still at large......
