07-24-2006, 01:35 PM #11If Martinez, McCain, Specter and Bush get their way, that's exactly what will happen. They are almost guaranteeing a Democratic takeover of the government, since latinos vote predominately for Democrats. But the long-term threat to the GOP that Martinez sees is no myth. The percentage of Hispanics in the voting population is going to increase every election cycle for the foreseeable future, and the share of that vote that is Spanish-speaking will also rise, thanks to the number of recent immigrants.
These Republicans are alienating their core constituents in hopes of attracting another group which will never support them as a majority. What kind of idiots are they?
Here's a long range plan for the Republican Party, secure our borders and enforce our labor and immigration laws and latino voters will be a non-issue.REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!

07-24-2006, 01:46 PM #12Lets think about those long term costs. But he made no headway. "They go to their town meetings and all they hear from the people there is 'Close the border,' " Martinez said. "They think that's the way to get re-elected this year. They don't think about the long-term cost."
1. Overcrowding schools
2. Overcrowding hospitals
3. Closing emergency rooms
4. Bigger debts
5. More crime
6. More poverty
7. More illiteracy
8. More wasteful entitlement spending
9. More sprawl
10. More pollution
11. Heavier traffic
12. More job losses
13. More unemployment
14. Higher consumer prices
15. Resource shortages
That's just the tip of the iceberg, but no that's not important, because it's all about what you elites want because we just don't matter. Just keep pandering to a base that's not only illegitimate, but votes 65/35 against you anyway, while you alieniate the rest of us. Let us know how it turns out for you loser. Please support our fight against illegal immigration by joining ALIPAC's email alerts here https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

This my friends is why we're in the position we are in:
This encouragement has given all illegals and their permanent resident family members an open door to contact and invite all their friends and family in from Mexico. The tell them this is the land of milk and honey and that businesses and employers want you to come. There is probably never any mention of the laws or legal process for entry, because those already here never had to worry about that. Our current problem has been years in the coming, but now it is time we did something about it. To ignore it now could change the face of America forever. I don't know about you, but I'm extremely hesitant to change anything that has worked so well for so many years!Bush made his sharpest gains among the Spanish-speakers, boosted by an extensive outreach and advertising campaign on Spanish-language stations, largely invisible to the English-speaking audience.
The appeal, according to NDN analysts, was not primarily to the conservative religious and social values of this largely Catholic constituency. Rather, it was keyed to their aspirations for the good life, for fulfilling the American dream that brought them here.

Is Martinez actually suggesting that our elected officials ignore their constituents so they can focus on THEIR own long term (no pun intended) political futures? Sure sounds like it to me.
Folks, this is insanity!
