Secure Arkansas Gathers Required Number of Signatures for its Constitutional Ballot Initiative
Media Notice: 2pm Friday July 2nd Press Conference in Capitol Rotunda

(Little Rock - July 2, 2010) The grassroots organization Secure Arkansas gathers required number of signatures for its constitutional amendment to be placed on the November 2010 ballot. This amendment limits state funded benefits provided to illegal aliens. Secure Arkansas' volunteers working since November of 2009 have gathered over 77,468 signatures, the amount required by state law, to bring an initiated constitutional amendment to the voters in November 2010. The petitions will be presented to the Secretary of State's office at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 2nd.
"Secure Arkansas did it! Volunteers and concerned Arkansans from all over the state put forth the effort necessary to collect over 77,468 signatures!" said a jubilant Jeannie Burlsworth, Chair of Secure Arkansas. "The outpouring of support from around the state is nothing short of amazing. It is clear the people of Arkansas are tired of their tax dollars going to support illegal aliens." She went on to say, "Because of the efforts of Secure Arkansas' volunteers and staff, all of whom are unpaid, the voters of Arkansas will now have the right to directly vote on an issue which means so much to so many." She concluded by saying, "I am confident the voters of Arkansas will overwhelmingly support this amendment and will thus send a direct message to our elected officials that special interests can no long override the will of the Arkansas people."

It never ceases to amaze me that struggling American taxpayers losing their jobs and homes with many struggling to put food on their table and keep a roof over their heads are forced to spend hundreds of billions of dollars annually for healthcare, welfare, education, wic, foodstamps, birthright citizenship and other benefits for illegal aliens while this government looks for ways to save money by cutting benefits and services for veterans, senior citizens, the disabled and other Americans. Absolutely reprehensible and shameful.
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.
