Hoffa Lauds Passage of DeFazio Bill In House Transportation Committee
Washington, D.C. – Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa commended the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for approving a bill to stop the Bush administration’s reckless pilot program allowing unsafe trucks from Mexico to travel freely throughout the United States.

Finally some representatives 'grow a couple' and decide to pass a piece of good legislation and not just stall a bad one (eg. early amnesty attempts).
It's a nice change seeing them start to work to protect the country for a change.
Note also the wording in the announcement above, it says "any Mexican" truck. The DoT can't hide behind such lame excuses any more as : "we weren't sure of which trucks should be included", or "the wording doesn't address the pilot project specifically" <- the ones they [the DoT, Mary Peters in particular] used to continue the program in defiance of bills passed in the senate to specifically shut the pilot program down. Mary Peters should be in jail right now. eg -
It also prohibits the transportation secretary from granting authority to any Mexican trucks beyond the commercial zone, unless specifically authorized by Congress. The bill passed unanimously by a voice vote.
Thinking about this after my initial post above - this makes a lot of sense for another reason as well. For one, such a small percentage of vehicles entering from Mexico are subject to actual full inspections. (I've heard something like <5% or so). This way, when the Mexican carriers have to stop within the interchange zone (25 miles of border) the cargo will have to be unloaded/loaded onto US carriers through their distribution system.
This will force another set of eyes to at least casually inspect the cargo - whereas, with near unlimited movement capability before, they could have brought very bad stuff in to all parts of the country never having another look at whatever the cargo might actually be until it is way too late.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

So I am confused ...is it over...No more Mexican Truck...or is it a fake out.....like I need to read the fine print....unless specifically authorized by Congresssheez....

Thats great news! But how long will it be before Mary Peters of DOT and Bush ignore the legislation and continue to allow Mexican truckers to enter and drive all over the country? They did it once and they will do it again.
RIP Butterbean! We miss you and hope you are well in heaven.-- Your ALIPAC friends

If this passes the Senate and it should and Mary Peters trys to pull this again I believe the traitor will find herself in jail....I think Dorgan has really had it with her!
By rights it was only a 1 year pilot program and should end in Sept anyway but you know it will not with out clarification from the congress. Please support ALIPAC's fight to save American Jobs & Lives from illegal immigration by joining our free Activists E-Mail Alerts (CLICK HERE)

James Hoffa is a fraud! Al Rantel outed him last year on his radio show after it was discovered that high level Teamster organizers were down at the Mexican border trying to get Mexican truckers to sign on to the Teamsters... the first day that the pilot program started! Hoffa is a hypocrite! It's all about money...not safety!
