Customs and Border Protection at Hidalgo Arrest Man Wanted For Sexual Assault
(Wednesday, April 11, 2012)
Hidalgo, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested a 45-year-old man from Houston, Texas wanted on sexual assault charges from Willacy County, Texas.
On April 10, CBP officers at the Hidalgo/Reynosa Port of Entry encountered Amador Ruiz-Santibanez at the pedestrian lane. Santibanez presented his legal resident card, and subsequent record checks through a law-enforcement database revealed an active warrant from Willacy County. In secondary officers confirmed that Santibanez was in fact wanted on a sexual assault warrant involving a minor child under the age of 15 years of age.
CBP officers released Santibanez to the custody of the Hidalgo Police Department pending transportation to the Willacy County jail.
Efrain Solis Jr., Port Director, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas, said, “Our ability to check all travelers at the border through several law enforcement databases enables us to detect those who have active warrants either at the local, state or federal level. Having apprehended this sexual predator helps keep the traveling public safe and secure.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
