U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (05/25/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 14,783 pounds of marijuana, 436 pounds of cocaine, and 11,204 hydrocodone pills. Agents arrested 14 criminal aliens and 13 gang members. There were four rocking incidents.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Penitas, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault of a child in the state of Nebraska and previously had been removed from the United States.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 436.5 pounds of cocaine, a Ford Mustang, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Pine Valley, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a search by agents uncovered the cocaine.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hebbronville, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed that the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,447 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Hidalgo, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including a firearms offense, and previously had been removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for vehicular homicide as a result of a DUI and previously had been removed from the United States.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hebbronville, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and previously had been removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Van Horn, Texas. Records checks revealed that the subject had an extensive criminal history and an active warrant of arrest issued in the state of Texas. The subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,106 pounds of marijuana, a Ford minivan, and arrested a USC and an illegal alien from Mexico near La Joya, Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,887 pounds of marijuana and a Ford Excursion, near GuVo, Arizona. Agents discovered the vehicle and the narcotics concealed and abandoned in the brush.

Grand Forks Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Nigeria near Walhalla, North Dakota. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for sexual assault issued in the country of Canada.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,306 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC and a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Hebbronville, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,281 pounds of marijuana and a Dodge van near Rio Grande City, Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Casa Grande, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 246 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet van, and arrested a USC near Douglas, Arizona. Agents observed an ultralight aircraft enter the U.S. and apprehended the subject at the drop zone. The van containing the marijuana was located near the scene.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and previously had been removed from the United States.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 11,204 pills of hydrocodone and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for assault/family violence issued in the state of Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,039 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen Chevrolet Suburban near Vaya Chin, Arizona. Agents observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and later found the vehicle abandoned in the desert. Agents discovered the marijuana inside the vehicle.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, both subjects admitted to being members of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed both subjects had extensive criminal histories and previously had been removed from the United States. One of the subjects had just been stabbed in the arm by suspected gang members in Mexico prior to crossing the border.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,446 pounds of marijuana and a Ford pickup truck near Escobares, Texas. When agents approached, the driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Quijotoa, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,659 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Tahoe near Casa Grande, Arizona. Agents followed tire tracks and found the vehicle containing the marijuana abandoned in the desert.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Rockport, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the MS-13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated robbery in the state of Texas and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Penitas, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the 18th Street gang. Records checks revealed the subject previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for attempted unlawful sex activity with a minor in the state of Utah and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,366 pounds of marijuana, a Ford truck, and arrested a USC near Patagonia, Arizona. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the truck. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.
