U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter, Blaine Sector March 22-28

Blaine, Wash.– The information listed below is from arrests and seizures related to U.S. Border Patrol in the Blaine Sector area of operations. For security reasons, this may not be a complete list of enforcement actions.

03/22/2012 - Agents responded to cross-border activity and encountered two subjects hiding in the brush in close proximity to the U.S. – Canada border west of Sumas. The individuals, both citizens of India illegally present in the United States, were placed under arrest and processed for removal.

03/24/2012 - Agents responded to a Port Angeles police officer’s request for assistance. During this encounter agents determined the subject was a Mexican citizen illegally in the United States. When the Port Angeles police officers had completed their investigation, the subject was placed under arrest and processed for removal by Border Patrol agents.

3/25/2012 - Agents stopped a vehicle on the mile marker 275 on-ramp to I-5 in Blaine. The vehicle sped away when the agent approached the vehicle on foot. Agents found the vehicle - abandoned a short time later in a nearby rest area off I-5 - to contain over 77 pounds of methamphetamines and over 61,000 tablets which tested positive for Opium Alkaloids. The seized drugs have a combined estimated value of nearly $1.4 million. The vehicle and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

03/26/2012 - An agent responded to a request for back-up by an Everson Police officer. The responding agent encountered a Mexican citizen who admitted to being in the United States illegally. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for removal.

03/28/2012 – Agents responded to a citizen’s report of possible suspicious activity in an area north of Quilcine. Agents responding to the area apprehended four subjects illegally present in the United States, in three separate encounters. The subjects, two citizens of Guatemala and two citizens of Mexico, were placed under arrest and processed for removal.
