U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter, Blaine Sector May 17 – May 23

Blaine, Wash. – The information listed below is from arrests and seizures related to CBP U.S. Border Patrol in the Blaine Sector area of operations. For security reasons, this may not be a complete list of enforcement actions.

05/17/2012- Sumas Border Patrol agents responded to a request for assistance from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office regarding a subject that they had detained. The individual admitted to being a citizen of Mexico illegally present in the United States. The individual had a previous criminal history including charges of assault. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for removal.

05/17/2012- Operators of a remote video surveillance system observed three subjects cross the United States/Canada border through the Peace Arch Park. They notified agents in Blaine, Washington of the illegal entry. Agents responded to the area and made contact with the group. Two of the subjects were citizens of Canada and the third person was a citizen of India. All subjects admitted to being illegally present in the United States. They were placed under arrest and processed for removal.

05/18/2012- Port Angeles Border Patrol agents responded to a request for assistance from the Port Angeles Police Department regarding a subject that they had detained in connection with the rape of a child. Agents provided translation assistance and reviewed a taped interview to assist police with the identification of potential evidence for their case. The agents also determined that the subject was a citizen of Mexico who was previously removed from the United States. An immigration detainer was placed on the subject to ensure that he will be placed in removal proceedings after the conclusion of the legal action resulting from the alleged child rape case.

05/19/2012- Bellingham Border Patrol agents responded to a request for assistance from the Ferndale Police Department regarding a subject that they had detained. The individual admitted to being a citizen of Mexico who had overstayed his visa and is illegally present in the United States. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for removal.

05/21/2012- Blaine Border Patrol agents responded to a request for assistance from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office regarding a subject that they had in custody. The individual admitted to being a citizen of Mexico illegally present in the United States. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for removal.

CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
