U.S. citizen accused in two Tijuana rapes

A U.S. citizen identified by Baja California authorities as Idrisk Malik Record Godoy, 33 of Chula Vista, is accused of raping two Tijuana women last Friday. — Baja California Atty. General's Office

TIJUANA — A 33-year-old U.S. citizen was in custody on Thursday, accused of raping two women in eastern Tijuana as they headed together to their jobs at a maquiladora factory.

The suspect, who was taken into custody on Wednesday, was identified as Idrisk Malik Record Godoy, of Chula Vista.

The victims, ages 29 and 31, told investigators from the Baja California Attorney General’s office that a man with a foreign appearance approached them at knife-point on Bulevar Refugio on Friday morning.

The victims said that he forced them to walk through an empty lot and into an abandoned building, where he then raped them repeatedly, threatening to kill them if they resisted. He then fled in a white Nissan Xterra with California plates, they said. They identified Godoy as their assailant.

State investigators are also connecting Godoy to a May 2010 assault on an 18-year-old woman in Tijuana. They are investigating his possible connection to as many as 11 other unsolved rapes in Tijuana.

Authorities said that Godoy was a Panamanian-born U.S. citizen, who had a girlfriend in Tijuana that he occasionally visited. They were uncertain whether he has a U.S. criminal record.

Allowed to speak briefly to reporters, Godoy said he was a former member of the U.S. military, that he worked as electrician and lived in Mexico. He said he was innocent, that authorities had violated his rights and not allowed him to see an attorney.

Has he been given access to the US Consulate, or does that rule only apply to illegal invaders from mexico squatting in the United States?

Hmm, I'm wondering how he attained citizenship? He's 33 so the 86 Amnesty might have been his ticket.
