11 jetliners 'missing' after Islamist takeover of airport

'We found out on Sept. 11 what can happen with hijacked planes'

    Published: 4 hours ago

Eleven commercial jets have reportedly been stolen in recent weeks in Libya, and Western intelligence agencies have begun warning they could be used in terror attacks on 9/11, the anniversary of the devastating Osama bin Laden-orchestrated attacks on New York and Washington that left nearly 3,000 dead.
According to a report in the Free Beacon, the jets were taken by Islamist militias in Libya, and reports distributed within the U.S. government “included a warning that one or more of the aircraft could be used in an attack … on the date marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks…”
One official in the report assembled by the highly respected Bill Gertz said, “There are a number of commercial airliners in Libya that are missing. We found out on September 11 what can happen with hijacked planes.”
Gertz now is senior editor of the Free Beacon, but built his career during 27 years as reporter, editor and columnist with the Washington Times. He’s also authored six books and his online biography reveals the state-run Xinhua news agency in 2006 identified him as the No. 1 “anti-China expert” in the world.
His report about the missing jetliners notes authorities have a high level of concern because of the convergence of the cases of missing airplanes and the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
It also is just two years after the 9/11 terror attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, a scandal that still is reverberating through the Obama administration and threatening to become a game-changer for the 2014 elections.
Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed in that attack.
A State Department official declined comment, Gertz reported.
The officials quoted by Gertz said U.S. intelligence agencies now are trying to locate all the airplanes belonging to two Libyan airline companies, and they have not confirmed the aircraft theft, which reportedly happened after the takeover by terrorists of Tripoli International Airport in August.
“The state-owned Libyan Airlines fleet until this summer included 14 passenger and cargo jetliners, including seven Airbus 320s, one Airbus 330, two French ATR-42 turboprop aircraft, and four Bombardier CJR-900s,” the report said. “Libyan state-owned Afriqiyah Airways fleet is made up of 13 aircraft, including three Airbus 319s, seven Airbus 320s, two Airbus 330s, and one Airbus 340.”
The report blames Libyan Dawn, one of the terror organizations operating there, for the alleged thefts in late August.
Following the warnings from Western intelligence agencies, Tunisia halted flights from Tripoli, Sirte and Misrata because of the potential the jets would appear in suicide missions, the report said.
And Egypt halted flights to and from Libya.
Gertz said military components from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt were put on a higher level of alert.
Libya has been an uncontrolled disaster area since the Obama administration engineered the removal in 2011 of strongman Moammar Gadhafi from office. His departure left terror factions struggling for control as the nation plunged into chaos.
Both Libyan Dawn and another group called Ansar al-Shariah were declared by Libya’s parliament to be terror groups. The report said Ansar al-Shariah reportedly has surface-to-air missiles, anti-aircraft guns and rocket-propelled grenades, among other weapons.
Abderrahmane Mekkaoui, a Moroccan military expert, explained to Al Jazeera broadcasting that “credible intelligence” reports say the jets are intended for use by a group called Masked Men Brigade for attacks on the 9/11 date.
Gertz reported that a counterterrorism expert, Sebastian Gorka, explained the events that could develop with the stolen jets.
“The first would be how commercial airliners were used on Sept. 11, 2001, literally turning an innocent mode of mass transit into a super-high precision guided missile of immense potency,” he said.
“The second tactic could be to use the airframe with its civilian markings as a tool of deception to insert a full payload of armed terrorists into a locale that otherwise is always open to commercial carriers,” he said.
Gertz’ report noted the planes themselves become an agent of destruction.
“Who needs ballistic missiles when you have passenger planes?” asked Michael Rubin, of the American Enterprise Institute. “Even empty, but loaded up with fuel, they can be as devastating.”

Report: Nearly a Dozen Commercial Airliners Missing Ahead of 9/11 Anniversary After Islamists Overrun Libyan Airport

    Sep. 2, 2014 6:29pm Jason Howerton
    Video at the page link:

Leading up to the somber anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, there are fresh fears of possible 9/11-style attacks taking place across North Africa as radical Islamist groups in Libya have reportedly seized nearly a dozen commercial airliners in the last month.
While counterterrorism officials are reportedly concerned that the missing jetliners could be used by terrorists to carry out deadly attacks, the timing of the theft is also setting off alarms. The concern is that radical Islamist groups will use the planes to mark the anniversary of the deadly 9/11 attacks, according to alleged intelligence reports disseminated within the U.S. government.
Reports that Islamist militias have seized the jetliners come just weeks before the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

“There are a number of commercial airliners in Libya that are missing. … We found out on September 11 what can happen with hijacked planes,” one official reportedly told the Washington Free Beacon.
The aircraft were reportedly stolen in August after Islamists took control of the Tripoli International Airport. It was later reported that 11 commercial jetliners were missing.
On Sept. 11, 2012, four Americans were killed during a terrorist attack on a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya. At first, the Obama administration blamed the attack on a spontaneous protest over an anti-Muslim YouTube video.
When pressed by the Free Beacon, a “senior State Department counterterrorism official” refused to comment on reports of stolen jetliners in Libya. Another State Department told the online publication, “We can’t confirm that.”
It was also reported on Tuesday that Islamic State militants beheaded a second American journalist, Steven Sotloff. Just as they did when they murdered photojournalist James Foley, the terrorists reportedly uploaded a video showing the gruesome execution.

Military intelligence confirms Natural News warning: Twelve missing commercial jets may now be deployed as weapons against U.S. cities

    Tuesday, September 02, 2014
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Tags: military intelligence, terror attacks, weaponized airplanes

(NaturalNews) On March 24 of this year, I wrote a story entitled Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 now clearly a government cover-up: All evidence contradicts official story.

    In that story, I wrote:

...it now seems increasingly likely that the Flight 370 aircraft has, indeed, been delivered to a rogue nation where it is being transformed into a weapon. Whoever took control of Flight 370 now has a massive stealth weapon which an incredibly long flight range. This aircraft can now be outfitted with nuclear weapons and dispatched to almost any desirable target anywhere in the world, including cities like New York and Washington D.C., unfortunately.

Today, U.S. intelligence officials repeated my warning almost word for word.

As Bill Gertz of the Free Beacon is now reporting, 11 commercial airliners have gone missing in Tripoli, and U.S. intelligence officials are now openly warning that those jets could be weaponized to launch terrorism attack on U.S. cities.

"...western intelligence agencies recently issued a warning that the jets could be used in terrorist attacks across North Africa," reports the Free Beacon. "Intelligence reports ...included a warning that one or more of the aircraft could be used in an attack later this month on the date marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against New York and Washington, said U.S. officials familiar with the reports.

U.S. intelligence warning an almost exact copy of Health Ranger story from March

Read that again and you will see that the military intelligence warning is almost a word-for-word description of what I wrote here on Natural News over five months ago, including the exact sequence and names of two U.S. cities.

When I first wrote my story earlier this year, I remember being criticized for suggesting such "wild conspiracy theories." (Only incredibly stupid people use the phrase "conspiracy theory" as a flippant condemnation because, of course, all terrorist attacks are conspiracies by definition.)

As Natural News readers have since learned, a huge number of things I write about here on Natural News are months or years ahead of their time. They sometimes seem strange or unusual at first glance, but more often than not they turn out to be very credible and almost prophetic.

Intelligence officials are concerned about jetliner attacks on 9/11

"The official said the aircraft are a serious counterterrorism concern because reports of terrorist control over the Libyan airliners come three weeks before the 13th anniversary of 9/11 attacks and the second anniversary of the Libyan terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi," reports the Free Beacon.

There are numerous ways in which a commercial aircraft could be outfitted with weapons and launched against major U.S. cities. I will not detail them here for obvious reasons, but as a qualified aircraft pilot and a high-IQ laboratory director, I can immediately think of at least five specific airborne threat tactics which the U.S. needs to defend against. I hope they've thought of them all and are taking necessary precautions. Although in all seriousness, there are some attack scenarios which are virtually impossible to stop.

Aircraft squawk identifiers, for example, can easily be spoofed. That's not any sort of top secret information: every qualified pilot knows this. In nearly all aircraft, in fact, the pilot simply types in whatever squawk code he wants. It's a four-digit code, and "1200" is a generic VFR squawk code used by hundreds of general aviation aircraft on any given day. Unfortunately, an inbound jetliner with evil intent could quite readily request traffic vectors for a large U.S. airport and actually be guided right into the final approach glide slope by air traffic control.

I'm not sure there are any security measures in place to detect terror intentions in time to stop the aircraft from deploying weapons above U.S. cities. I do know the U.S. military will scramble fighter jets to escort suspicious aircraft, but even their engagement protocols might actually make things worse in some circumstance. For example, what if the commercial jet is loaded with "dirty bomb" radioactive waste material? Shooting down the jet would only cause those materials to be dispersed into the air, potentially worsening the incident rather than de-escalating it.

As U.S. intelligence authorities no doubt realize, if a flight crew of terrorists is willing to die in order to deliver their weapons, there is not much which can be done to stop them. You can't force an aircraft to land unless you physically shoot out the engines, in which case you are risking a massive explosion of the entire aircraft and whatever might be onboard. Shooting out the engines, after all, will often result in a fiery explosion for the simple reason that all the jet fuel is stored in the wings. And those wings aren't bulletproof. At best, the U.S. military might hope to shoot down an enemy aircraft over a relatively uninhabited area, but such outcomes necessitate early detection and confirmation of the threat.

MH370 plus 11 more commercial jets are now missing

So what we have now is a grand total of 12 large commercial aircraft that have gone missing (that's MH370 plus 11 more that have gone missing from Tripoli). We have terrorist organizations around the world that are openly seeking to destroy America. On top of that, certain nations and terror groups obviously have easy access to weapons materials from several different fronts (biological, chemical, nuclear, etc.).

Senior military intelligence believes U.S. cities might be targeted by these weaponized aircraft on September 11. I don't think they have any specific intelligence claiming such attacks will take place, but they recognize the threat (as do I). With twelve jets, twelve U.S. cities could be simultaneously targeted by whatever weapons of mass destruction the terrorists can come up with. If only half of those attacks made it through, a six-city attack would still be absolutely devastating to America (which is what the terrorists want).

Because of flight path proximity, the most likely cities to be targeted by terrorists flying commercial jets would reside on the East Coast of the United States. Therefore, it's only logical to conclude that the most likely city targets would include New York, Washington D.C., Boston, Miami, Philadelphia and so on.

    Be careful on 9/11

Whatever your plans for the next couple of weeks, be cautious on 9/11. This is a date on which terrorists wish to strike America because of the psychological impact of the date. Striking on precisely 9/11 sends a message that the United States can't even stop terrorists on the most likely day of terror.

Hopefully nothing bad will happen on 9/11, and I'm not trying to scare anyone away from existing plans. But if you have a choice, you might be wise to consider staying out of East Coast cities on that day, just in case.

Or, if you really have to be in the city, double check your own preparedness supplies. Do you have potassium iodide or iodine supplies in case of nuclear terrorism? Do you have a face mask in case of chemical or biological terrorism? Do you have food, water and medicine supplies at home? These are wise things to keep prepared at all times -- but especially so when the likelihood of a terrorism attack is heightened for any reason.

Right now, you've got about a week to get prepared before 9/11, just in case. I'm not suggesting anyone panic, but right now would be a good time to double check your preparedness lists and make plans to go out and acquire anything you're missing before the coming weekend.

Stay safe by staying prepared for all emergencies

Personally, I believe it is only a matter of time before a large U.S. city is hit with a devastating terrorism weapon. I hope and pray such violence never takes place, but I also know that there are horrendously evil people (and nations) in our world, and I know that America has many enemies which are trying to destroy her.

I am sending extra prayers to all the crew aboard America's nuclear sub fleet, because those subs stand as the last-ditch defense against global nuclear war. The very fact that we have stealth subs cruising around the oceans, carrying nuclear-tipped ICBMs, is a powerful deterrent to America's enemies. And if we didn't have those subs, we would be in a far worse strategic situation right now. As a person who is "anti war," I am also strongly "pro nuclear submarines" because it is those subs that help prevent wars from taking place by forcing America's enemies to consider the devastating cost of retaliation.

Stay safe, everybody. The idea of 12 missing commercial airliners in the hands of terror groups who hate America should be more than enough cause for you to double check your preparedness plans before 9/11.

Fear of Another 9/11 Type Attack as Intel Reports Reveal 11 Libyan Airliners Have Gone Missing

1,279 Shares By Justen Charters 27 mins ago

With the anniversary of the September 11th attacks right around the corner, intelligence officials are sharing some disturbing news about commercial jets that have gone missing in Libya. From Bill Gertz at the Washington Free Beacon:

Intelligence reports of the stolen jetliners were distributed within the U.S. government over the past two weeks and included a warning that one or more of the aircraft could be used in an attack later this month on the date marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against New York and Washington, said U.S. officials familiar with the reports.

The aircraft were reportedly taken in late August following the takeover of Tripoli International Airport, located about 20 miles south of the capital, by Libyan Dawn.

Al Jazeera television reported in late August that western intelligence reports had warned of terror threats to the region from 11 stolen commercial jets.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a failure to act in Libya exacerbate an already precarious national security outlook.

    • President Obama destabilized Libya by removing strongman Muammar Gaddafi, and violated the law by authorizing military operations in Libya. The lack of political will securing the post-war nation has led to terrorist organizations over-running Libya.
    • In Benghazi, despite requesting extra security multiple times, Christopher Stevens, Tyrone Woods, Glen Doherty and Sean Smith were murdered by the terrorist group Ansar al-Sharia. As Congressional testimony proves, no rescue attempt was mounted by the President or Secretary of State.
    • Shortly after the evacuation of our embassy in Tripoli last month, radical Islamists took over the U.S.’ diplomatic compound and were even seen having a pool party.

The national tragedy that occurred on September 11th, 2001 is still etched in the minds of Americans, and any such threat to the country’s security should be taken with the utmost seriousness.
The main priority at this point for the U.S. government should be to pool its available intelligence and military resource together and find these missing jets.

A week shy of the 13th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, counterterrorism officials are concerned about what radical Islamist groups could do with the nearly dozen commercial airliners that were reportedly seized from Tripoli International Airport in Libya last month.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, western intelligence agencies recently issued a warning that the jets could be used in terrorist attacks across North Africa. In response, Tunisia and Egypt have halted flights to and from Libya. Meanwhile, military forces from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt have all been placed on “heightened alert.”
“There are a number of commercial airliners in Libya that are missing,” one official reportedly told the Free Beacon. “We found out on September 11 what can happen with hijacked planes.”
    The Free Beacon reports:
The officials said U.S. intelligence agencies have not confirmed the aircraft theft following the takeover of Tripoli International Airport in late August, and are attempting to locate all aircraft owned by two Libyan state-owned airline companies, as security in the country continued to deteriorate amid fighting between Islamists and anti-Islamist militias.

Al Jazeera television reported in late August that western intelligence reports had warned of terror threats to the region from 11 stolen commercial jets.
    Read the full report HERE.
On radio this morning, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) joined Glenn to further discuss the threat. Bachmann is a member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and she described two specific uses for the stolen aircraft.
Bachmann explained the only information she has seen regarding the missing jets is from open source documents. She believes there are two likely uses for the planes – one involving an attack against strategic targets and another that would see the planes used to transport terrorists.
“There’s really two concerns. One, the planes could be used in a similar way that they were used on 9/11 in the United States. They could be used as essentially flying bombs into oilfields or buildings or strategic targets,” Bachmann said. “Number two, they could be used in a way where a plane could be loaded as terrorists, land as a commercial aircraft… in an American city or European city, deplane… [and] carry about maybe a Mumbai-type disaster.”
Glenn believes it would be difficult for terrorists to pull off an attack in a the U.S. or Europe using the aircraft, but he does see a very real threat when it comes to the oilfields of Saudi Arabia and other strategic targets in North Africa and the Middle East.
“The thing you said that feels the most true to me is the oilfields,” Glenn said. “You could take off in Libya and be over the skies of Saudi Arabia in lightning speed.”
According to Bachmann, that proximity is not lost on the Saudis.
“The Saudis know that as well,” Bachmann said. “The Saudis, from the time they detected that a plane… it would be less than 90 seconds the Saudis would have to be able to respond. So it’s very little time that they have. They realize that.”

CONFIRMED: Obama’s “Manageable Problem” ISIS Now Controls 12 Commercial Aircraft After Hostile Takeover of Tripoli Airport

The same day Barack Obama irresponsibly claimed ISIS is a “manageable problem” and they’ve “already failed,” media was confirming Islamic forces took over the Tripoli airport in violent attacks. Worse, the Islamic forces now control a dozen commercial airliners and likely plan to use them in larger acts of war/terrorism.
