All Transactions to be Reported To The Federal Government
Nearly Every Online Purchase, Sale, And Credit Card Transaction To Be Reported To The Federal Government
Bad Cop News
Thursday, June 19, 2008
WASHINGTON, DC - Hidden deep in Senator Christopher Dodd’s 630-page Senate housing legislation is a sweeping provision that affects the privacy and operation of nearly all of America’s small businesses. The provision, which was added by the bill’s managers without debate this week, would require the nation’s payment systems to track, aggregate, and report information on nearly every electronic transaction to the federal government.
FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey commented: “This is a provision with astonishing reach, and it was slipped into the bill just this week. Not only does it affect nearly every credit card transaction in America, such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, but the bill specifically targets payment systems like eBay’s PayPal, Amazon, and Google Checkout that are used by many small online businesses. The privacy implications for America’s small businesses are breathtaking.â€[b]Buy American

The government will be forcing us to pay sales tax on ALL internet purchases and sales one of these days...this data bank will help the IRS track billions of dollars if and when it happens.
Our elected officials have reached an intolerable level of distrust and sneakiness. I don't even feel like a human being anymore...we are going to become nothing more than numbers and micro-chips and national ID cards.
Bush is expected to veto this Bill, but it will be passed sooner or later. It's outrageous that we are going to have to pay for a housing bailout that was perpetrated by our government and thousands of unscrupulous, criminal lenders and borrowers.

In addition to the money they may or may not collect, they will be able to track a majority of peoples transactions. They will know where you shop, what you buy and how much, so much about what a person purchases can create a profile on their personality type.

The only way to beat this is to get out of debt, quit buying on line and get rid of those credit cards. I have one left, after that if I don't have the money to buy something..tough sh--! With technology and convenience comes evil. Evil will accompany everything, but some things can't be avoided..but credit IS NOT ONE OF THEM!

- 06-20-2008, 07:42 PM #9I agree with getting out of debt. I don't carry any debt aside from my mortgage. However, we use credit cards to protect us. So that if we don't receive what we order or if it is damaged and the seller doesn't cooperate we just call the credit card company and contest it. And we have had to do this a few times. I would hate to lose that option. I don't know what the answer is.

I realize that in the days before plastic reigned, we had problems with company refunds for bad merchandise. I think loosing that option of protection would happen. Of course, COD could come back, but who knows. All I know is that if we don't give up our conveniences to save our freedom, the government will have us in a cage.
