Americans don’t want Obamacare, Lawmakers do

Very few Americans want Obamacare, a recent Fox News poll reveals.

Despite Obama’s recent speech about recovery and the Great Recession, very few are optimistic about the promises of Big Government healthcare.

The Fox Poll shows that 53 percent want the law fully repealed, while 4o percent accept the law as it is. Not surprisingly, those who polled in favor or full repeal are Republicans and Independents. Moreover, sixty-eight percent of Republicans and fifty-five percent of Independents believe that Obama’s selective enforcement of the law’s mandates is unacceptable.

While the majority of Americans wish to see the law completely erased, Democrat lawmakers continue to champion Obamacare.

U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott recently compared his Party’s battle to preserve Obamacare to the battle of Gettysburg. On CSPAN he said,

“We’re going to make every effort we can to keep the President’s spine made out of steel. This is not a time to back down. The President has to stand up and fight at this point like he’s never fought before in his life. This is Gettysburg, this is the big battle and after this the Civil War pretty much was down hill for the South. That’s really what’s happening here for the forces against Obamacare. If they lose this one, it’s over.”

Seeing the disconnect between the People’s Opinion and the People’s Congress, is the United States still a truly representative system or do we just think it is?
